Introduction: Early in 2021, the SARS-CoV-2 incidence rate was higher in the East than in the West of the Alpes-Maritimes district in France. What was the impact of social deprivation, household overcrowding and population density per km on this difference in incidence rate?

Methods: Cases were defined as persons with a first SARS-CoV-2 positive test detected between 04/01/2021 and 14/02/2021. We studied the « French Deprivation index » (FDep), rate of overcrowded households and population density/km.

Ultrasound-Guided Percutaneous Fasciotomies for Patients With Chronic Exertional Compartment Syndrome.

Chronic exertional compartment syndrome is a well-described potential cause of leg pain in high-level athletes and soldiers. Surgical treatment of chronic exertional compartment syndrome usually involves fasciotomy, with a reported rate of complications of up to 16%, including failure of complete compartmental release and delayed return to normal daily activity, which can take up to 6 to 12 weeks. The use of a minimally invasive approach under ultrasound guidance seems to improve clinical outcomes in young active patients.

Teaching potential of interdisciplinary meetings on osteoarticular infections for orthopaedic residents: Insights from a French reference center (CRIOAC).

Objective: Management of osteoarticular infections (OAI) represents a major public health challenge. To deal with this, the French Ministry of Health created the (CRIOAC) in 2008. CRIOAC functions as a national network of reference centers for OAI, with the aim of coordinating, providing expertise, offering training, and conducting research at the regional level.

Human genetics and genomics as a unifying factor for harmony and progress in Africa: a report from the 12 African Society of Human Genetics meeting in Bamako, Mali.

Since its inception in 2003, the African Society of Human Genetics (AfSHG) has been central to the promotion of genetics research on the continent, and facilitated the networking of African researchers within Africa and abroad, thereby significantly contributing to the career development of African geneticists. The continuation of these accomplishments was stimulated by the 12 international conference of AfSHG held jointly with the 1 Congress of the Malian Society of Human Genetics (MSHG) in Bamako, Mali from September 18 to 21 2019. The main theme of the conference was "Human Genetics and Genomics as a Unifying Factor for Harmony and Progress in Africa".

[Effectiveness and tolerance of azathioprine as first-line treatment for multiple sclerosis: a case study from Morocco].

Introduction: the purpose of our study is to evaluate the efficacy of azathioprine as first-line treatment in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) or progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS), who were supposed to be treated with beta-interferons but, due to limited resources, received azathioprine instead.

Method: among the 31 patients, 17 had relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS), 11 had primary progressive MS (PPMS), and 3 had secondary progressive MS (SPMS). Patients received azathioprine orally at a dose of 3 mg/kg/day over 2 years.

Introduction: Lower limb length discrepancy (LLD) following hip arthroplasty after proximal femoral fracture (PFFA) is little studied. The aim of this work was to answer the following questions: 1) What are the incidence and mean values ​​of LLD after PFFA? 2) What are the clinical consequences (tolerance) of LLD after PFFA? 3) Can we identify risk factors for LLD after PFFA? 4) Is there a significant difference in terms of LLD after PFFA to treat intra- versus extra-capsular fractures?

Factors influencing the turnover of nurses in French intensive care unit - A multicenter interview survey.

Background: Nurse retention is a major concern in healthcare settings, especially among intensive care units (ICU), in which nurses are highly specialized. The objective was to describe the nurse courses after their entrance into the ICU, their motivation for leaving the ICU, and to identify the independent factors that influenced the nurse resignation from their units.

Methods: In 3 different centers, every ICU nurse working between 2013 and 2023 was telephonically contacted and was asked to describe their career and, when appropriate, the reasons that influenced their resignation from their units; they rated on a Likert scale of 14 factors that influenced their decision.

Mycotic aneurysm due to Magnusiomyces capitatus complicating a second liver transplant in a colonized patient.

This report presents an extremely rare case of fungal mycotic aneurysm due to Magnusiomyces capitatus in a 51-year-old immunocompromised woman. The diagnosis was based on multiple CT-scans and various samples positive for the pathogen identified by sequencing of the Internal Transcribed Spacer region. Long-term treatment using caspofungin for previous candidemia would have promoted the dissemination of this intrinsically echinocandin-resistant fungus, from colonization sites in the lung and rectal areas.

Background: Gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (gbMSM) have a higher risk of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and related diseases and would benefit from preventive measures such as HPV vaccination. We assessed the association between HPV vaccination and anal HPV infection in HIV-negative gbMSM and gbMSM living with HIV from the Lubricant Investigation in Men to Inhibit Transmission of HPV Infection study.

Methods: Participants attended 7 visits over 12 months where they provided a nurse-collected anal sample and self-completed a questionnaire on risk factors and HPV vaccination.

Association between maternal schizophrenia and risk of serious asthma exacerbations in childhood.

Background And Hypothesis: While maternal schizophrenia is linked to chronic childhood medical conditions, little is known about the risk of acute asthma exacerbations among children whose mothers have schizophrenia. This population-based study used health data for all of Ontario, Canada to evaluate whether having a mother with schizophrenia was associated with increased risk of asthma exacerbations.

Study Design: The study cohort included 385,989 children diagnosed with asthma from age 2 years onward, followed from the time of their asthma diagnosis up to a maximum of age 19 years.

Purpose: Acute midsubstance Achilles tendon ruptures are the most common tendon injuries in adults and the choice of surgical technique is still debated.
