Thyroid-like low-grade nasopharyngeal papillary adenocarcinoma is a rare histopathological entity. Patients usually complain of nasal obstruction and epistaxis. Diagnosis is confirmed on endonasal biopsy using immunohistochemical studies.

Hypopharyngeal reconstruction with gastro-omental free flap.

Eur Ann Otorhinolaryngol Head Neck Dis

October 2021

CHU de Grenoble Alpes (CHUGA), 38043 Grenoble Cedex 09, France; Faculté de médecine Grenoble Alpes, 38043 Grenoble Cedex 09, France.

Three types of reconstruction are possible following total laryngopharyngectomy (TLP) for advanced hypopharyngeal cancer: locoregional tubularized island flaps, gastric pull-up and free flaps. Gastro-omental free flap (GOFF) is rarely used in this setting. However, because of its composite nature, this flap has the advantage of being able to restore digestive continuity and reconstruct part of the skin of the neck when it needs to be sacrificed because of tumour invasion or poor trophicity.

Rationale: Evidence has suggested that exposure to environmental or microbial biodiversity in early life may impact subsequent lung function and allergic disease risk.

Objectives: To investigate the influence of childhood living environment and biodiversity indicators on atopy, asthma and lung function in adulthood.

Methods And Measurements: The European Community Respiratory Health Survey II investigated ∼10 201 participants aged 26-54 years from 14 countries, including participants' place of upbringing (farm, rural environment or inner city) before age 5 years.

Thyroglossal duct surgery. Sistrunk procedure.

Midline cysts of the neck are the most common congenital malformations of the neck. They arise along the thyroglossal duct. The presence of a fistula is the result of either spontaneous (suppuration) or surgical fistulisation (simple incision or incomplete excision).

We previously identified 1-(2,4-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-(1-methylindolyl) propenone (IPP51), a new chalcone derivative that is capable of inducing prometaphase arrest and subsequent apoptosis of bladder cancer cells. Here, we demonstrate that IPP51 selectively inhibits proliferation of tumor-derived cells versus normal non-tumor cells. IPP51 interfered with spindle formation and mitotic chromosome alignment.

Epidemiological research is mostly based on observational studies. Whether such studies can provide evidence of causation remains discussed. Several causal analysis methods have been developed in epidemiology.

An original submandibular approach technique sparing the cervical branch of the facial nerve.

Eur Ann Otorhinolaryngol Head Neck Dis

April 2014

Clinique universitaire d'ORL, pôle TCCR, CHU de Grenoble, 1, avenue des Maquis-du-Grésivaudan, 38043 Grenoble cedex 09, France; Université Joseph-Fourier, Grenoble I, France; Unité Inserm UJF/U823, centre de recherche Albert-Bonniot, Grenoble, France.

Many articles and anatomy textbooks accurately describe the anatomy and anatomical variations of the marginal mandibular branch of the facial nerve (VII). This is not, however, true for the cervical branch, damage to which results in paralysis of the platysma and, because of its insertions at the lower lip and labial commissure, in disfigurement, especially when smiling. This may be mistaken for paralysis of the marginal mandibular branch of the facial nerve.

Ten-year follow-up of cluster-based asthma phenotypes in adults. A pooled analysis of three cohorts.

Am J Respir Crit Care Med

September 2013

Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale, Environmental Epidemiology Applied to Reproduction and Respiratory Health Team, Centre de Recherche Albert Bonniot, Grenoble, France.

Rationale: The temporal stability of adult asthma phenotypes identified using clustering methods has never been addressed. Longitudinal cluster-based methods may provide novel insights in the study of the natural history of asthma.

Objectives: To compare the stability of cluster-based asthma phenotype structures a decade apart in adults and to address the individuals' phenotypic transition across these asthma phenotypes.

Background: The aims were to assess 1) the relationship of asthma control assessed by combining epidemiological survey questions and lung function to Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQL) and 2) whether individuals with controlled asthma reach similar generic HRQL levels as individuals without asthma.

Methods: The analysis included 584 individuals without asthma and 498 with asthma who participated in the follow-up of the Epidemiological study on Genetics and Environment of Asthma (EGEA). Asthma control was assessed from survey questions and lung function, closely adapted from the 2006-2009 Global Initiative for Asthma guidelines.

Characterization of circulating dendritic cells in melanoma: role of CCR6 in plasmacytoid dendritic cell recruitment to the tumor.

J Invest Dermatol

June 2010

INSERM U823, Centre de Recherche Albert Bonniot, Immunobiologie et Immunothérapie des Cancers, Université Joseph Fourier, R&D Laboratory, EFS Rhônes-Alpes, 29 Avenue Maquis du Gresivaudan, La Tronche, France.

Dendritic cells (DCs) are central cells in the development of antitumor immune responses, but the number and function of these cells can be altered in various cancers. Whether these cells are affected during the development of melanoma is not known. We investigated the presence, phenotype, and functionality of circulating myeloid DCs (MDCs) and plasmacytoid DCs (PDCs) in newly diagnosed melanoma patients, compared to controls.

Polymorphisms in ADAM33, the first gene identified in asthma by positional cloning, have been recently associated with psoriasis. No replication study of this association has been published so far. Data available in the French EGEA study (Epidemiological study on Genetics and Environment of Asthma, bronchial hyperresponsivensess and Atopy) give the opportunity to attempt to replicate the association between ADAM33 and psoriasis in 2002 individuals.

Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) are crucial in viral clearance and tumor growth control. Thus the induction of CTL activity is an important aim in vaccine development. We investigate an innovative delivery system for peptide transfer to the MHC class I processing pathway of APC with the aim to trigger CTL in the context of an antitumoral response.
