University of Bordeaux, CNRS, Institut des Neurosciences Intégratives et Cognitives d'Aquitaine INCIA CNRS UMR5287, F-33000 Bordeaux, France.

The exploration of increasingly specific brain structures and their relationships, in more nuanced ways, has facilitated the generation of databases for gene expression, connectivity, cell morphology, and electrophysiology. However, neurochemistry, the study of neurochemical environment and transmission, has not yet warranted a public database, despite the plethora of data published. From our viewpoint, a neurochemical database is overdue and would allow the field of neurochemistry to develop facilitating, standardization and reference values, reproducibility, resource efficiency, preservation and accessibility of raw data, hypothesis development and exploration, and metadata analysis.

The speed at which we move is linked to the speed at which we decide to make these movements. Yet the principles guiding such relationship remain unclear: whereas some studies point toward a shared invigoration process boosting decision and movement speed jointly, others rather indicate a trade-off between both levels of control, with slower movements accompanying faster decisions. Here, we aimed ) at further investigating the existence of a shared invigoration process linking decision and movement and ) at testing the hypothesis that such a link is masked when detrimental to the reward rate.

University of Bordeaux,  France; Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), unit 5287, Institut des Neurosciences Intégratives et Cognitives d'Aquitaine (INCIA), Bordeaux, France. Electronic address:

The study of the mechanism of action of classical psychedelics has gained significant interest due to their clinical potential in the treatment of several psychiatric conditions, including major depressive and anxiety disorders. These drugs bind 5-hydroxytryptamine receptors (5-HTR) including 5-HTR, 5-HTR, 5-HTR, and/or 5-HTR, as well as other targets. 5-HTRs regulate the activity of ascending monoaminergic neurons, a mechanism primarily involved in the action of classical antidepressant drugs, antipsychotics, and drugs of abuse.

Laboratory granular landslides are smaller-scale, simplified, yet well-controlled versions of larger and often tragic natural landslides. Using systematic experiments and scaling analysis, we quantify the influence of grain size, fall height, and landslide volume on runout distance. We also determine the minimum landslide size required to observe this scaling, which we find is set by a combination of air drag, grain size, and fall height.

Article Synopsis
  • Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among women globally, and research indicates that larger tumors increase the risk of metastatic disease, prompting an evaluation of breast self-examination (BSE) versus breast awareness.
  • The Commission of Senology (CS) of CNGOF utilized established assessment methods to determine the effectiveness of BSE across different groups of women, including general and high-risk populations.
  • The findings suggest BSE is not recommended for the general female population, who are encouraged to rely on clinical exams and screenings, while no clear guidelines were established for women over 75 or those with a history of breast cancer due to insufficient data on BSE's benefits for these groups.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that progresses over time and is characterized by preferential reduction of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra. Although the precise mechanisms leading to cell death in neurodegenerative disorders, such as PD, are not fully understood, it is widely accepted that increased oxidative stress may be a prevalent factor contributing to the deterioration of the nigrostriatal dopaminergic fibers in such conditions. Aminochrome, generated from dopamine (DA) metabolism, plays an important role in multiple pathogenic mechanisms associated with PD.

Neural replicas of the spinal motor commands that drive locomotion have become increasingly recognized as an intrinsic neural mechanism for producing gaze-stabilizing eye movements that counteract the perturbing effects of self-generated head/body motion. By pre-empting reactive signaling by motion-detecting vestibular sensors, such locomotor efference copies (ECs) provide estimates of the sensory consequences of behavioral action. Initially demonstrated in amphibian larvae during spontaneous fictive swimming in deafferented in vitro preparations, direct evidence for a contribution of locomotor ECs to gaze stabilization now extends to the ancestral lamprey and to tetrapod adult frogs and mice.
