Clin Gerontol

October 2019

b University of Kentucky, College of Public Health and Behavioral Science, College of Medicine, Lexington , Kentucky , USA.

Objectives: This study sought to identify older patients' perceptions of primary care providers' influence on their likelihood of improving diet and physical activity.

Methods: 104 adults ages 65 and older were interviewed immediately following a routine primary care visit about their plans and motivations for behavior change and how their clinic visit would influence their likelihood of making lifestyle changes. All interviews were recorded, transcribed and analyzed using a constant comparison approach.

Objective: To compare anthropometric measures of body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), and sagittal abdominal diameter (SAD) as predictors of blood pressure in college students.

Participants: Students (N = 116) were recruited from November 2012 to May 2014 at an urban university and rural community colleges.

Methods: Students underwent a brief physical examination during which anthropometric measures were obtained and blood pressure was measured.

While work with viral fusion proteins has demonstrated that the transmembrane domain (TMD) can affect protein folding, stability, and membrane fusion promotion, the mechanism(s) remains poorly understood. TMDs could play a role in fusion promotion through direct TMD-TMD interactions, and we have recently shown that isolated TMDs from three paramyxovirus fusion (F) proteins interact as trimers using sedimentation equilibrium (SE) analysis (E. Hendra virus is a highly pathogenic paramyxovirus classified as a biosafety level four agent. The fusion (F) protein of Hendra virus is critical for promoting viral entry and cell-to-cell fusion. To be fusogenically active, Hendra virus F must undergo endocytic recycling and cleavage by the endosomal/lysosomal protease cathepsin L, but the route of Hendra virus F following internalization and the recycling signals involved are poorly understood.

Purpose - International Medical Graduates (IMGs) are increasingly filling Family Medicine residency positions. (1) To what extent are residency programs recruiting and accepting IMG applicants? (2) What are program directors' perceptions of IMG applicants? (3) What program characteristics are associated with their practices and perceptions? Methods - A 2002 national survey of Family Medicine program directors assessed program demographics and directors' recruiting practices and perceptions regarding IMG applicants. Results - Although 88% of respondents would rank IMG applicants, only 40% agreed that they would perform as well as U.
