Humoral immune responses to microbial polysaccharide surface antigens can prevent bacterial infection but are typically strain specific and fail to mediate broad protection against different serotypes. Here we describe a panel of affinity-matured monoclonal human antibodies from peripheral blood immunoglobulin M-positive (IgM) and IgA memory B cells and clonally related intestinal plasmablasts, directed against the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) O-antigen of Klebsiella pneumoniae, an opportunistic pathogen and major cause of antibiotic-resistant nosocomial infections. Elevated PIM2 gene expression is associated with poor survival of patients with acute myeloid leukemia.

The PIM2 gene encodes the serine/threonine kinase involved in cell survival and apoptosis. The aim of the study was to evaluate the expression of the PIM2 gene in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and to examine its role in apoptosis of the blastic cells. We analyzed the PIM2 expression in 148 patients: 91 with AML, 57 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and 24 healthy controls by Real-Time PCR and Western blot.
