Introduction: Many barriers prevent individuals from regularly engaging in physical activity (PA), including lack of time and access to facilities. Providing free gym membership close to one's work may alleviate both time and financial barriers, increase PA, and result in greater weight loss. The purpose of this secondary analysis was to determine if gym usage, self-reported leisure PA, and weight loss differed between participants working on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (ON) versus working off-campus (OFF) during a 6-month weight loss trial.

Background Context: The complex anatomy of the upper cervical spine resulted in numerous separate classification systems of upper cervical spine trauma. The AOSpine upper cervical classification system (UCCS) was recently described; however, an independent agreement assessment has not been performed.
Purpose: To perform an independent evaluation of the AOSpine UCCS.
The role of physical activity (PA) in the regulation of body weight is still a major topic of debate. This may be because studies have essentially focused on the effects of moderate/vigorous PA (MVPA) on body weight while overlooking the other components of PA, namely, light-intensity PA (LPA, daily life activities) and sedentary behaviors (SB, too much sitting). In this review, we will (i) describe the history of changes in PA behaviors that occurred with modernization; (ii) review data from cross-sectional and longitudinal studies that examined the associations between PA, SB, and measures of obesity; (iii) review interventional studies that investigated the effects of changes in PA and SB on body weight and adiposity; and (iv) discuss experimental studies that addressed potential biological mechanisms underlying the effects of PA and SB on weight regulation.

Background: Symptomatic uterine fibroids are burdensome to live with; they are associated with symptom-related distress, affect daily activities, and reduce health-related quality of life. The LIBERTY randomized clinical trials showed that oral relugolix combination therapy (40 mg relugolix, 1 mg estradiol, and 0.5 mg norethindrone acetate once daily) markedly improved fibroid-associated symptoms and conditions, including heavy menstrual bleeding, pain, and anemia, and was well-tolerated.

Objective: Identifying associations among circulating proteins, dietary intakes, and clinically relevant indicators of cardiometabolic health during weight loss may elucidate biologically relevant pathways affected by diet, allowing for an incorporation of precision nutrition approaches when designing future interventions. This study hypothesized that plasma proteins would be associated with diet and cardiometabolic health indicators within a behavioral weight-loss intervention.
Methods: This secondary data analysis included participants (n = 20, mean [SD], age: 40.

Bariatric surgery is associated with weight loss attributed to reduced caloric intake, mechanical changes, and alterations in gut hormones. However, some studies have suggested a heightened incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) has been associated with bariatric surgery, emphasizing the importance of identifying mechanisms of risk. The objective of this study was to determine if bariatric surgery is associated with decreases in fecal short-chain fatty acids (SCFA), a group of bacterial metabolites of fiber.

Background: The standard of care for treating overweight and obesity is daily caloric restriction (DCR). While this approach produces modest weight loss, adherence to DCR declines over time and weight regain is common. Intermittent fasting (IMF) is an alternative dietary strategy for reducing energy intake (EI) that involves >60% energy restriction on 2-3 days per week, or on alternate days, with habitual intake on fed days.
