Phys Rev Lett

February 2013

Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare Bologna, I-40127 Bologna, Italy and University of Bologna, I-40127 Bologna, Italy.

The first observation of the production of a W boson with a single charm quark (c) jet in pp[over ¯] collisions at √s=1.96  TeV is reported. The analysis uses data corresponding to 4.

A randomized controlled trial of rituximab for the treatment of severe cryoglobulinemic vasculitis.

Arthritis Rheum

March 2012

Clinic of Rheumatology, AO Universitaria Santa Maria della Misericordia, and University of Udine, Udine, Italy.

Objective: To conduct a long-term, prospective, randomized controlled trial evaluating rituximab (RTX) therapy for severe mixed cryoglobulinemia or cryoglobulinemic vasculitis (CV).

Methods: Fifty-nine patients with CV and related skin ulcers, active glomerulonephritis, or refractory peripheral neuropathy were enrolled. In CV patients who also had hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, treatment of the HCV infection with antiviral agents had previously failed or was not indicated.

The present article deals with theoretical and experimental aspects of language representation in the multilingual brain. Two general approaches were adopted in the study of the bilingual brain. The study of bilingual aphasics allows us to describe dissociations and double dissociations between the different subcomponents of the various languages.

Since most people in the world know more than one language, bilingual aphasia is an important line of research in clinical and theoretical neurolinguistics. From a clinical and ethical viewpoint, it is no longer acceptable that bilingual aphasics be assessed in only one of the languages they know. Bilingual aphasic patients should receive comparable language tests in all their languages.

Pathological switching between languages after frontal lesions in a bilingual patient.

J Neurol Neurosurg Psychiatry

May 2000

Neurolinguistic Unit, Istituto Scientifico "E Medea", 23842 Bosisio Parini (LC), Italy and University of Udine, Italy.

Cerebral lesions may alter the capability of bilingual subjects to separate their languages and use each language in appropriate contexts. Patients who show pathological mixing intermingle different languages within a single utterance. By contrast, patients affected by pathological switching alternate their languages across different utterances (a self contained segment of speech that stands on its own and conveys its own independent meaning).

Immunohistochemical quantitation of thymidylate synthase expression in colorectal cancer metastases predicts for clinical outcome to fluorouracil-based chemotherapy.

J Clin Oncol

June 1999

Department of Medical Oncology, Istituto Nazionale per la Ricerca sul Cancro, Genova, Department of Pathology, E.O. Ospedali Galliera, Genova, and University of Udine, Udine, Italy.

Purpose: To determine whether immunohistochemical thymidylate synthase (TS) quantitation predicts for clinical outcome in patients with advanced colorectal cancer treated by fluorouracil (FUra)-based chemotherapy.

Patients And Methods: TS levels were measured immunohistochemically on archival specimens of colorectal cancer metastases from 48 patients homogenously treated by bolus FUra plus methotrexate alternating with continuous-infusion FUra plus leucovorin. These measurements were retrospectively correlated with patient characteristics and clinical outcome.
