Treatment strategies for early stage diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (ES-DLBCL) include R-CHOP, with a similar schedule to that used in advanced stage, or a reduced number of cycles followed by radiation therapy (RT). We retrospectively analyzed 179 ES-DLBCL patients, managed according to the clinical practice. Treatment regimens include chemoimmunotherapy 4-6 cycles +/- RT as consolidation.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac sustained arrhythmia, and it is associated with increased stroke and dementia risk. While the established paradigm attributes these complications to blood stasis within the atria and subsequent thrombus formation with cerebral embolization, recent evidence suggests that atrial myopathy (AM) may play a key role. AM is characterized by structural and functional abnormalities of the atria, and can occur with or without AF.

The treatment of patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) is extremely complex, requiring a comprehensive approach that involves a variety of different healthcare professionals. Several studies have shown that a multidisciplinary team (MDT) approach is useful to achieve good clinical outcomes, reducing major and minor amputation and increasing the chance of healing. Despite this, the multidisciplinary approach is not always a recognized treatment strategy.

Background And Aim: Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary disease (CTEPD) is a progressive condition caused by fibrotic thrombi and vascular remodeling in the pulmonary circulation despite prolonged anticoagulation. We evaluated clinical factors associated with CTEPD, as well as its impact on functional capacity, pulmonary haemodynamics at rest and after exercise, and right ventricle (RV) morphology and function.
Methods: We compared 33 consecutive patients with a history of acute pulmonary embolism and either normal pulmonary vascular imaging (negative Q-scan, group 1, n = 16) or persistent defects on lung perfusion scan (positive Q-scan) despite oral anticoagulation at 4 months (group 2, n = 17).

Introduction: The present study aimed to examine the middle-term effects of transcrestal double-sinus elevation (TSFE) versus alveolar/palatal split expansion technique (APS) and simultaneous implant placement in the augmented sinus.
Null Hypothesis: there were no differences between groups.
Material & Methods: Magnetoelectric device was used for bone augmentation and expansion techniques in long-standing edentulous patients with a deficiency in vertical height in the posterior maxilla (3mm to 4mm residual bone height): TSFE group, or two-stage process with a first transcrestal sinus floor augmentation and a second sinus floor elevation with immediate implant placement; APS group, or "dual split and dislocation" of the two cortical bony plates towards the sinus and palatal side.

Introduction: The prognosis of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients with refractory or multiply relapsed (R/R) disease is disappointing. Pixantrone is currently approved as third or fourth line regimen, with encouraging results, even if long-term follow-up data are limited.
Methods: In this post-hoc analysis of our observational study, we retrospectively investigated disease outcome and clinical characteristics of 16 R/R DLBCL patients who achieved a complete response with pixantrone.

Background: Tissue levels of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) have been inversely related with risk of myocardial infarction (MI). Whether ratios of n-3 to n-6 PUFAs, reflecting both dietary intake of n-3 PUFAs and competing n-6 PUFAs, are better predictors of future MI than n-3 PUFA fractions is unclear. We aimed at investigating whether such ratios in adipose tissue better predict MI than n-3 PUFA fractions.

Whether non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a cardiovascular (CV) risk factor is debated. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the CV morbidity and mortality related to NAFLD in the general population, and to determine whether CV risk is comparable between lean and non-lean NAFLD phenotypes. We searched multiple databases, including PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library, for observational studies published through 2022 that reported the risk of CV events and mortality.

Ibrutinib represents the first approved treatment for patients with Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM). There are very few published experiences outside of a clinical trial. In this study, we investigated treatment response, survival, and safety in a real life setting.

Background: The instant, single-sampling rule-out of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is still an unmet clinical need. We aimed at testing and comparing diagnostic performance and prognostic value of two different single-sampling biomarker strategies for the instant rule-out of AMI.
Methods: From the Biomarkers in Acute Cardiac Care (BACC) cohort, we recruited consecutive patients with acute chest pain and suspected AMI presenting to the Emergency Department of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany.

Porto-pulmonary arterial hypertension (PoPAH) is a form of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) that affects patients with cirrhosis, and - to a lesser extent - patients with non-cirrhotic liver diseases. Compared with other forms of PAH, PoPAH is more prevalent in male, in older subjects, and is characterized by lower mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP) and lower pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) with higher cardiac output. Despite more favorable hemodynamics and functional class, patients with PoPAH have a significantly worse survival than patients with other forms of PAH, likely because of liver-related events and therapeutic barriers to PAH-specific therapy.

Purpose Of Review: The present review will outline the main effects of COVID-19 pandemic on cardiovascular pathologies, focusing on the role of modern non-invasive cardiac imaging techniques in this setting.
Recent Findings: Multimodality cardiac imaging seems particularly suited for the in-depth characterization of patients with COVID-19, allowing the assessment of the variegated impact of the disease on the different aspects of myocardial perfusion, structure, and function.
Summary: The infection of SARS-CoV-2, leading to the coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19), has represented a consistent challenge for the organization of the healthcare systems, associating to a significant increase of the fatality rate of different acute and chronic disease.

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of mortality worldwide. In the presence of diabetes, mortality from cardiovascular disease is higher in women than in men. A better perception of the mechanisms common to atherosclerosis and diabetes, which lead to co-morbidities, is an exciting challenge.

Introduction: Pixantrone is a novel aza-anthracenedione with antineoplastic activity, currently approved for multiply relapsed/refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), even if real-life data are limited.
Methods: We investigated pixantrone efficacy and safety in clinical practice, as 3 or 4 line therapy. We retrospectively analyzed a cohort of 37 R/R DLBCL patients managed in 8 Tuscan onco-hematological centers.

Background: Relapsed or refractory (R/R) mantle-cell lymphoma (MCL) patients have a poor prognosis and their management is challenging, in absence of a golden standard as salvage treatment. Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitor ibrutinib represents an effective treatment for R/R MCL patients. We investigated ibrutinib efficacy and safety in daily clinical practice, together with factors that could predict disease outcome.

Background And Objectives: The absence of obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with angina is common, but its prognosis is debated. We investigated outcomes of such patients to identify predictors of cardiovascular events.
Methods: We selected 1014 patients with angina, evidence of myocardial ischemia at the electrocardiogram (ECG) exercise test or imaging stress tests, and nonobstructive CAD (absence of lumen diameter reduction ≥50%) at coronary angiography between 1999 and 2015.
