Background: Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) is a construct that focuses on the capacity for living afforded by the health status of a patient. Measurement of HRQOL allows a composite estimation of the capacity for living of a patient and can help capture the suffering experienced by the patient due to adverse effects of therapeutic interventions. This study was conducted to understand the health-related quality of life of cancer patients undergoing various modalities of treatment to generate evidence source for need-based intervention, to assess patients diagnosed with cancers, using Health Utilities Index - 3 (HUI-3) and assign them single-score values to gauge HRQOL and to measure the various domains of HRQOL and change in HRQOL after a period of three months of treatment.

Crescents in Kidney Biopsy - What Do They Imply? A Clinicopathologic Study of 40 Cases in a Tertiary Care Center.

Introduction: Crescents in glomeruli mean proliferation of parietal epithelium of Bowman's capsule with the presence of macrophages, lymphocytes, neutrophils, fibrin, and collagen. When crescents are present in >50% of nonfibrosed glomeruli, it is called crescentic glomerulonephritis (CGN). The presence of crescents is indicative of poorer prognosis.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 and Dengue Virus Co-infection: Indian Perspectives.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV-2) and Dengue virus (DENV) Coinfection can be a pertinent issue in a country like India, where Dengue is endemic, and Coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) is also reported from all states of the country. The coinfection of these viruses has already been reported in different dengue-endemic countries like Singapore, Thailand, and Bangladesh. The outcome and the dynamics of each of the diseases may be altered in the presence of coinfection.

Galectin-3 and CD117 immunocytochemistry in the diagnosis of indeterminate thyroid lesions: A pilot study.

Background: Indeterminate thyroid lesions have always been a grey zone in the field of thyroid cytopathology. Immunocytochemistry (ICC) has emerged as a promising tool to correctly classify these indeterminate thyroid lesions into benign and malignant. Hence we planned to assess a panel of immune markers in the diagnosis of indeterminate thyroid lesions consisting of Galectin-3, considered positive for malignancy and CD117 which is positive in benign follicular epithelial cells and negative in malignant lesions.

Study Protocol for a Global Survey: Awareness and Preparedness of Hospital Staff Against Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Outbreak.

The outbreak of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) caused by a novel coronavirus (named SARS-CoV-2) has gained attention globally and has been recognized as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) by the World Health Organization (WHO) due to the rapidly increasing number of deaths and confirmed cases. Health care workers (HCWs) are vulnerable to this crisis as they are the first frontline to receive and manage COVID-19 patients. In this multicenter multinational survey, we aim to assess the level of awareness and preparedness of hospital staff regarding COVID-19 all over the world.

We aimed to compare the efficacy of daily v. low dose depot oral vitamin D3 for treating nutritional rickets. We conducted a randomised controlled trial in the department of paediatrics of a tertiary care hospital catering to semi-urban and rural population in Delhi, India.

Post Viral Olfactory Dysfunction After SARS-CoV-2 Infection: Anticipated Post-pandemic Clinical Challenge.

Persistent olfactory dysfunction (OD) is the second most common symptom of post coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) now being termed long-COVID. Its prevalence after recovery from COVID-19 is estimated to be 12% after nearly 6 months of follow-up. It thus becomes imperative for the treating clinicians to update themselves with the pathophysiology of this post COVID disability as well as the tools for diagnosis and the available treatment options.

Behavioral Intervention in Children with Functional Abdominal Pain Disorders: A Promising Option.

Background: The objectives of this study were to identify and classify patients with functional abdominal pain disorders (FAPD) into its various subtypes as per the Rome IV criteria and to evaluate the underlying psychological factors and the effect of behavioral intervention in children with FAPD.

Methods: A validated Questionnaire on Pediatric Gastrointestinal Symptoms (QPGS) based on Rome IV criteria was used to identify and classify children presenting with abdominal pain. The children diagnosed as having FAPD were referred for psychological screening to evaluate for underlying psychosocial problems.

Shared care for children with cancer in India through social and healthcare partnerships during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: The COVID pandemic posed a challenge for the tertiary centers to continue treatment. Some tertiary centers were designated as COVID-only hospitals, making it difficult for existing childhood cancer patients to continue their treatment at those centres. The need for shared care in childhood cancer was perceived by Cankids and its partnering childhood cancer-treating centers in North and East India.

Background: There is a paucity of data on the role of molecular methods in the diagnosis of osteoarticular tuberculosis. The present study was conducted to define the role of molecular (CBNAAT, LPA), phenotypic (AFB smear and culture) and histopathological evaluation in the diagnosis of osteoarticular TB.

Methods: Seventy-seven consecutive cases of osteoarticular tuberculosis were grouped into presumptive TB cases (group A) and presumptive drug-resistant cases (group B).

Trichoscopy as a monitoring tool in assessing treatment response in 98 children with tinea capitis: A prospective clinical study.

Tinea capitis (TC) is the most common dermatophyte infection in children. Fungal culture the gold standard diagnostic method takes several weeks and has poor yields. Trichoscopy helps in rapid diagnosis and could work as a monitoring tool during antifungal therapy.

Prevalence and predictors of adverse outcomes in neonatal seizures.

Objectives: Neonatal seizures are significant cause of neonatal mortality and morbidity. Current study was planned to study prevalence of adverse outcomes in neonatal seizures and identify its predictors.

Methods: This observational descriptive study was carried out on 220 neonates with seizures.

Efficacy of different infusion rates of oxytocin for maintaining uterine tone during elective caesarean section: A randomised double blind trial.

Most research in this field has focused on finding oxytocin doses for initiating uterine contractions. Only limited data are available regarding the optimal rate of oxytocin infusion to maintain adequate uterine tone. This randomised, double blind study included 120 healthy term pregnant patients with uncomplicated, singleton pregnancy undergoing elective caesarean section under spinal anaesthesia.

Intradural lipoma without spinal dysraphism is a rare occurrence. Most of them are asymptomatic but can also present with neurological deficits. A 54-year-old male patient presented to us with progressive weakness in both lower limbs for six months.

Relationship between subjective and objective measures of anticipatory anxiety prior to extraction procedures in 8- to 12-year-old children.

Background: This study assessed anticipatory dental anxiety levels among 8- to 12-year-old children based on subjective and physiological measures and their correlation. The variations in anxiety based on sex, age, temperament, and academic performance were evaluated.

Methods: An observational study was conducted in 60 children recruited from the waiting room over a 6-month period.

Meningitis after spine surgery is a rare complication. In this report, we aim to discuss the case of a male patient who developed this rare condition after undergoing cervical spine surgery with devastating outcomes. We also engage in a review of the relevant literature.

Objective: Cervical cancer screening by primary human papilloma virus detection and cytology is fraught with low specificity and variable sensitivity, respectively. Cytology-histology correlation remains modest. Biomarkers associated with early genetic events in cervical squamous carcinogenesis and detectable in cytology material are likely to be relevant.

Perioperative concerns in Pott's spine: A review.

Pott's disease is the most common granulomatous spine infection caused by tubercle bacilli and is a common site of osseous tuberculosis, accounting for 50-60% of cases. The delay in establishing diagnosis and management results in complications such as spinal cord compression and spinal deformity. The aim of this narrative review is to discuss the perioperative concerns in patients for spine surgery.

Objective: We aimed to determine performance of sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) and Sepsis in Obstetrics Score (SOS), in women with pregnancy-associated sepsis (PAS) with respect to critical care admission and mortality.

Methods: Obstetric patients with PAS fulfilling any 2 of the quick SOFA (qSOFA) criteria were enrolled as cases. The various parameters of SOFA and SOS were recorded at admission and compared for outcomes.

Hypnosis and progressive muscle relaxation for anxiolysis and pain control during extraction procedure in 8-12-year-old children: a randomized control trial.

Introduction: Hypnosis (H) and Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) have proven to be effective in a variety of medical settings; there is a paucity of their practical application in paediatric dentistry. The study aimed to comparatively evaluate the role of H and PMR on anxiety, heart rate (HR), oxygen saturation (SPO), blood pressure (BP), pain, and analgesic requirement during extraction in children.
