Background: Peritoneal metastasis with micrometastatic cell clusters is a common feature of advanced ovarian cancer. Targeted alpha therapy (TAT) is an attractive approach for treating micrometastatic diseases as alpha particles release enormous amounts of energy within a short distance. A pretargeting approach - leveraging the inverse-electron-demand Diels-Alder reaction between tetrazines (Tz) and trans-cyclooctene (TCO) - can minimize off-target toxicity related to TAT, often associated with full-length antibodies.

Feline chronic gingivostomatitis (FCGS) is a relatively common and debilitating disease characterized by bilateral inflammation and ulceration of the caudal oral mucosa, alveolar and buccal mucosa, and varying degrees of periodontal disease. The etiopathogenesis of FCGS remains unresolved. In this study, we performed bulk RNA-seq molecular profiling of affected tissues derived from a cohort of client-owned cats with FCGS compared to tissues from unaffected animals, to identify candidate genes and pathways that can help guide future exploration of novel clinical solutions.

After anesthetizing the animals, gentle traction was used to separate the pair at which point a vaginal prolapse was detected and the penis was covered with black, firm, dry crusts and noted to have a solid pale, tan, firm cylindrical mass adhering to its glans. The vaginal prolapse was reduced and the female was returned to its cage.

DNA-methylating environmental carcinogens such as -nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) and certain alkylators used in chemotherapy form -methylguanine (m6G) as a functionally critical intermediate. NDMA is a multi-organ carcinogen found in contaminated water, polluted air, preserved foods, tobacco products, and many pharmaceuticals. Only ten weeks after exposure to NDMA, neonatally-treated mice experienced elevated mutation frequencies in liver, lung and kidney of ∼35-fold, 4-fold and 2-fold, respectively.

This discovery was unexpected, as Cm infection had not been reported in laboratory mice since the 1940s. A Cm specific PCR assay was developed and testing implemented for the resident colonies of 8 vivaria from 3 academic institutions, 58 incoming mouse shipments from 39 academic institutions, and mice received from 55 commercial breeding colonies (4 vendors).

Resistance mechanisms and heterogeneity in HER2-positive gastric cancers (GC) limit Trastuzumab benefit in 32% of patients, and other targeted therapies have failed in clinical trials. Using patient samples, patient-derived xenografts (PDXs), partially humanized biological models, and HER2-targeted imaging technologies we demonstrate the role of caveolin-1 (CAV1) as a complementary biomarker in GC selection for Trastuzumab therapy. In retrospective analyses of samples from patients enrolled on Trastuzumab trials, the CAV1-high profile associates with low membrane HER2 density and low patient survival.

Self-tracking can help personalize self-management interventions for chronic conditions like type 2 diabetes (T2D), but reflecting on personal data requires motivation and literacy. Machine learning (ML) methods can identify patterns, but a key challenge is making actionable suggestions based on personal health data.
