Introduction: Intervisit care, asynchronous care provided between patient visits, represents an essential part of patient care. Despite the importance of intervisit care, residency programs have not traditionally taught residents how to effectively manage intervisit care within the formal curriculum. We aimed to improve resident preparedness in providing intervisit care with an intervisit workshop.

Purpose: The purpose of this quality improvement project was to develop guidance for safe patient handling and mobility efforts to prevent pressure injuries (PIs) within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) when slings and other transfer devices are left under patients.
Participants And Setting: Health care staff (n = 112) in patient safety and nursing at 77 unique VHA facilities responded to surveys between November and December 2019. Interviews (n = 24) were conducted using purposive sampling with VHA staff at facilities with highest and lowest PI rates (n = 9) between January and March 2021.

Objectives: This study examines the perspectives of key stakeholders in home health toward Medicare's Home Health Value Based Purchasing (HHVBP) program, piloted among home health agencies (HHAs) in 9 states from 2016 to 2021, and based on initial performance, was expanded to the remaining 41 (nonpilot) states in January 2023.
Design: We conducted semistructured interviews wherein we inquired participants' views toward and experiences with HHVBP. We used convenience and purposive sampling to obtain diversity in HHA size, geography, and quality.

Our previous studies have implicated Ca3.2 isoform of T-type Ca2+ channels (T-channels) in the development of postsurgical pain. We have also previously established that different T-channel antagonists can alleviate in vivo postsurgical pain.

Metformin is a biguanide that is used as first-line treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus and is effective as monotherapy and in combination with other glucose-lowering medications. It is generally well-tolerated with minimal side effects and is affordable. Although the safety and efficacy of metformin have been well-established, there is discussion regarding whether metformin should continue to be the first choice for therapy as other anti-hyperglycemic medications exhibit additional advantages in certain populations.

The American Diabetes Association 2020 (Standards of Care) recommends a hemoglobin A (A1C) of <7% (53 mmol/mol) for many children with type 1 diabetes (T1D), with an emphasis on target personalization. A higher A1C target of <7.5% may be more suitable for youth who cannot articulate symptoms of hypoglycemia or have hypoglycemia unawareness and for those who do not have access to analog insulins or advanced diabetes technologies or who cannot monitor blood glucose regularly.

Lower extremity peripheral artery disease (PAD) and cerebrovascular disease (CeVD) are prevalent conditions in the United States, and both are associated with significant morbidity (eg, stroke, myocardial infarction, and limb loss) and increased mortality. With a growth in invasive procedures for PAD and CeVD, this demands a more clear responsibility and introduces an opportunity to study how patients are treated and evaluate associated outcomes. The American College of Cardiology (ACC) National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) Peripheral Vascular Intervention (PVI) Registry is a prospective, independent collection of data elements from individual patients at participating centers, and it is a natural extension of the already robust NCDR infrastructure.

Critical limb ischemia (CLI), defined as ischemic rest pain or nonhealing ulceration due to arterial insufficiency, represents the most severe and limb-threatening manifestation of peripheral artery disease. A major challenge in the optimal treatment of CLI is that multiple specialties participate in the care of this complex patient population. As a result, the care of patients with CLI is often fragmented, and multidisciplinary societal guidelines have not focused specifically on the care of patients with CLI.
