Objective: In this study, we evaluated the effect of body mass index (BMI) on the quality of life of ovarian cancer survivors.
Methods: Women diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust between January 2008 and May 2013 were identified. Ovarian cancer survivors were invited to participate by completing the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer QLQ-C30 (quality of life) questionnaire.

Objective: To estimate the performance of combining cervical length measurement with fetal fibronectin testing in predicting delivery in women with symptoms of preterm labor.
Methods: We conducted a prospective nationwide cohort study in all 10 perinatal centers in The Netherlands. Women with symptoms of preterm labor between 24 and 34 weeks of gestation with intact membranes were included.

Background: The aim of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes of two techniques to repair complete bilateral cleft lip by using indirect two-dimensional photographic analysis.
Methods: One hundred eight bilateral cleft patients were included in this study, 54 patients operated on with the Millard technique and 54 patients operated on with the Afroze technique. Each group of patients was further separated into two subgroups containing symmetrical and asymmetrical cleft lips.

Pharmacogenetics, one of the cornerstones of personalized medicine, has the potential to change the way in which health care is offered by stratifying patients into various pretreatment categories, such as likely responders, likely non-responders or likely to experience adverse drug reactions. In order to advance drug development and regulatory science, regulatory agencies globally have promulgated guidelines on pharmacogenetics for nearly a decade. The aim of this article is to provide an overview of new guidelines for the implementation of pharmacogenetics in drug development from a multiregional regulatory perspective - encompassing Europe, the United States and Japan - with an emphasis on clinical pharmacokinetics.

Background: Ocular candidiasis is a major complication of candidemia. The incidence, risk factors, and outcome of eye involvement during candidemia are largely unknown. We prospectively studied the ocular manifestations of candidemia in a large, worldwide, randomized multicenter trial that compared voriconazole with amphotericin B followed by fluconazole for the treatment of candidemia.

Contamination of an in-house diagnostic real-time PCR for Q fever was traced back to a commercially obtained PCR Master Mix. It was established that this Master Mix contained DNA from Coxiella burnetii, probably as a result of the use of compounds of animal origin such as bovine serum albumin.
