Background: Injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) has the capacity to release great amounts of several growth factors, as well as to stimulate increased fibroblast migration and the expression of collagen, transforming growth factor β, and platelet-derived growth factor. Consequently, i-PRF can be used as a bioactive agent to promote periodontal tissue regeneration.

Objective: We aim to compare and evaluate the effectiveness of i-PRF in periodontal tissue regeneration.

Attention deficit/hyperactive disorder is increasing in prevalence among children all over the world which affects the children's communication, learning, and behavior, which in turn affects the quality of life. The depolarization of neurons is modulated by neural stimulation which triggers activity-based mechanisms of neuroplasticity. An external periodic stimulus that can modify the oscillations of the brain through synchronization is called entrainment.

Biomimetic 3D Prototyping of Hierarchically Porous Multilayered Membranes for Enhanced Oil-Water Filtration.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering, University of Georgia (UGA), 302 E. Campus Rd., Athens 30602, United States.

This study introduces a biomimetic approach to 3D printing multilayered hierarchical porous membranes (MHMs) using Direct Ink Writing (DIW) technology. Fabricated through a fast layer-by-layer printing process with varying concentrations of pore-forming agents, the produced MHMs mimic the hierarchical pore structure and filtration capabilities of natural soil systems. As a result, the 3D-printed MHMs achieved an impressive oil rejection rate of 99.

Introduction: The utilization of CDK4/6 inhibitors has led to compromised survival rates for breast cancer patients. Consequently, certain treatment aspects, involving adherence and drug-to-drug interactions, are gaining prominence. To develop chemotherapy regimens that are both effective and efficient, our main objective was to thoroughly characterize the drug-drug interactions that occur between cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors and concurrently prescribed medications in hospitalized breast cancer patients.

Persistent Thrombocytopenia of an Unexplained Cause in a Patient With Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma: A Case Report.

Cureus

December 2024

Surgical Oncology, Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, Tata Memorial Centre, Varanasi, IND.

Thrombocytopenia is a common complication in patients with solid tumors, particularly renal cell carcinoma (RCC), arising from mechanisms such as chemotherapy, direct tumor invasion, and paraneoplastic syndromes. Managing thrombocytopenia in advanced cancer presents significant challenges, often limiting therapeutic options and impacting patient outcomes. This case report describes a 62-year-old man with metastatic RCC complicated by persistent thrombocytopenia, unresponsive to both conventional treatments and novel therapies.

Pyrazinamide (PZA) is a key first-line antituberculosis drug that plays an important role in eradicating persister (TB) bacilli and shortening the duration of tuberculosis treatment. However, PZA-resistance is on the rise, particularly among persons with multidrug-resistant (MDR) tuberculosis. This nationwide study was conducted to explore the prevalence of mutations conferring PZA resistance, catalogue mutation diversity, investigate the associations of PZA resistance with specific lineages, examine co-resistance to 13 first- and second-line drugs, and evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of sequencing A and D genes for predicting PZA resistance.

Background: Mpox is a viral zoonotic disease that has seen a resurgence in recent years, with outbreaks reaching beyond its traditional endemic zones in Central and West Africa to parts of Europe and North America. The relationship between human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and mpox outcomes, particularly hospitalization rates, remains underexplored despite the known immunosuppressive effects of HIV. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to clarify the association between HIV infection and the likelihood of hospitalization in mpox cases.

Plant breeding needs to embrace genetic innovations to ensure stability in crop yields under fluctuating climatic conditions. Development of commercial hybrid varieties has proven to be a sustainable and economical alternative to deliver superior yield, quality and resistance with uniformity in a number of food crops. Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS), a maternally inherited inability to produce functional pollen, facilitates a three-line system for efficient hybrid seed production strategies in crops.

Electrochemical Deconstruction of Waste Polyvinylidene Chloride (PVDC) to Value-Added Products in Batch and Flow.

Chemistry

January 2025

Organic Chemistry Division, CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Dr. Homi Bhabha Road, Pune, 411008, India.

Chlorinated polymers have made enormous contributions to materials science and are commercially produced on a large scale. These chlorinated polymers could be recycled as chlorine sources to efficiently produce valuable chlorinated compounds owing to their facile release of HCl. Although the thermal stability of PVDC is low compared to PVC, this can be advantageous in terms of easy and fast dehydrochlorination.
