Objectives: The purpose of this research was to assess the impact of exposure to heat on the physical, social, and mental health domains of adults residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where the region faces great increases in temperature due to climate change. Previous research has focused mainly on physical health outcomes; this research addressed the expansive impacts of mental and social health, which remain understudied in the region.

Methods: A cross-sectional study surveyed 397 adults in the UAE using a structured questionnaire.

The authors introduce the Visual-Numeric Endometriosis Scoring System. VNESS is a novel system for describing surgical findings in each compartment of the pelvis in a way that is simple to use, visually intuitive and mirrors a laparoscopic image of the pelvis.

Effects of pretreatment strategies on fertility outcomes in patients with adenomyosis.

Adenomyosis is a commonly encountered pathology in women of reproductive age and frequently coexists with infertility. The effect of adenomyosis on fertility, particularly on fertilisation and intracytoplasmic sperm injection outcomes, is not well understood. Various pretreatment modalities have been used to improve pregnancy rates and live birth outcomes; however, because of a lack of high-quality evidence, there is no clear consensus on the best pretreatment option.

Background: Preeclampsia is a severe pregnancy complication affecting 2-8% of pregnancies globally, contributing to substantial maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Vitamin D deficiency has been associated with an increased risk of preeclampsia, yet the efficacy of its supplementation during pregnancy in reducing preeclampsia incidence remains uncertain.

Objectives: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the impact of vitamin D supplementation on the incidence of preeclampsia and related maternal and neonatal outcomes.

The Pivotal role of hysteroscopy in diagnosing subtle uterine lesions in infertile patients: Seeing the unseen can make the difference.

Background: Subtle uterine lesions are abnormal intracavitary conditions that, while not causing significant anatomical changes, can adversely impact fertility. Identifying these "subtle" lesions is challenging due to arbitrary interpretation, varied management strategies, unclear clinical significance, and insufficient clinician training in recognizing them. Hysteroscopy offers direct visualization and the capacity to obtain targeted biopsies, making it an invaluable tool for the diagnosis and treatment of these often overlooked conditions.

Identifying potential predictors of surgical site infection risk following cardiac surgery: a scoping review.

Objectives: This scoping review was undertaken to identify risk predictions models and preoperative predictors of surgical site infection (SSI) in adult cardiac surgery. A particular focus was on the identification of novel predictors that could underpin the future development of a risk prediction model to identify individuals at high-risk of SSI, and therefore guide a national SSI prevention strategy.

Methods: A scoping review to systematically identify and map out existing research evidence on preoperative predictors of SSI was conducted in two stages.

Aim: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate the measures of associations between CD and psychiatric disorders, specifically anxiety and depression, and explore the relationship between adherence to a Gluten-Free Diet (GFD) and the psychiatric aspects of the disease.

Methods: We searched PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science for articles investigating anxiety and depression in CD patients.

The Community Acute Respiratory Infection (CARI) surveillance programme, established by Public Health Scotland (PHS) in November 2021, aims to monitor respiratory infections in communities, replacing prior schemes to ensure early detection of outbreaks and inform public health interventions. Positioned as a cornerstone of PHS's national infectious respiratory diseases plan, CARI is pivotal for safeguarding public health. This study presents key findings from the 2022/23 CARI season and evaluates the programme's performance during this period.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study collected and evaluated data on hospital-acquired infections (excluding COVID-19) from 1660 nurses, physicians, technicians, and housekeepers in 6 hospitals in Cairo Governorate, Egypt, 1 year before and 1 year during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Effect of adaptive cruise control on fuel consumption in real-world driving conditions.

This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the impact of adaptive cruise control on energy consumption in real-world driving conditions based on a natural experiment: a large-scale observational dataset of driving data from a diverse fleet of vehicles and drivers. The analysis is conducted at two different fidelity levels: (1) a macroscopic trip-level benefit estimate that compares trips with and without cruise control in a counterfactual way using statistical methods, and (2) a situation-based comparison achieved through the segmentation of trips into distinct driving situations such as acceleration, braking, cruising, and other maneuvers. The results of this research show that the effect of cruise control on energy consumption varies across different driving situations and levels of analysis.

Proposal for a new classification of intrauterine adhesions by sites.

The authors propose a new classification of intrauterine adhesions (IUAs) to facilitate understanding for both the gynecologist and the patient, documenting the location and characteristics of the adhesions in a single image. This tool significantly improves surgical planning and patient outcomes in the treatment of intrauterine adhesions. In addition, having a simple and consistent method of describing IUAs will facilitate longitudinal studies tracking the outcomes of various surgical techniques, adhesion barriers and the impact of hormonal treatment.
