Introduction: This study aims to evaluate whether Instagram engagement data affect residency application volumes for orthopaedic surgery residency programs and rank the top 50 Instagram accounts associated with programs based on engagement.
Methods: Data from January 1, 2020 to June 30, 2023 were collected in August 2023 for Instagram metrics through Popsters social media analytic tool for business accounts and manually for nonbusiness accounts, as well as applicant numbers through the Association of American Medical College (AAMC) Residency Explorer Tool. Top 50 rankings were created from 2020 to 2022 based on engagement score, number of applicants, and growth in application numbers.

Background: Hip fractures are prevalent orthopaedic injuries with substantial morbidity and mortality. Failed primary treatments of these fractures often necessitate conversion to total hip arthroplasty (CTHA); a complex procedure requiring extensive exposure and hardware removal. It poses major challenges and is associated with high rates of complications such as infection, dislocation, and periprosthetic fractures.

Sequence conservation analyses offer us a powerful glimpse of natural selection at work. Standard tools for measuring sequence conservation report conservation as a function of a specific location in a multiple sequence alignment and have proven indispensable in identifying highly constrained features such as active site residues. The advent of large-scale genomic sequencing efforts allows researchers to expand this paradigm and investigate more nuanced relationships between sequence and function.

Large-scale simulations of light-matter interaction in natural photosynthetic antenna complexes containing more than one hundred thousands of chlorophyll molecules, comparable with natural size, have been performed. Photosynthetic antenna complexes present in Green sulfur bacteria and Purple bacteria have been analyzed using a radiative non-Hermitian Hamiltonian, well-known in the field of quantum optics, instead of the widely used dipole-dipole Frenkel Hamiltonian. This approach allows us to study ensembles of emitters beyond the small volume limit (system size much smaller than the absorbed wavelength), where the Frenkel Hamiltonian fails.
