Background: Orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) has greatly improved short-term survival for end-stage liver disease. However, cardiovascular events (CVE) still pose a significant threat to long-term post-transplant health. Aim of this study is to assess the occurrence of long-term cardiovascular events and whether it relates to new-onset diabetes after liver transplantation (NODALT).

Consumption of plant-based diets, including vegan diets, necessitates attention to the quality of the diet for the prevention and early detection of nutritional deficiencies. Within the VEGANScreener project, a unique brief screening tool for the assessment and monitoring of diet quality among vegans in Europe was developed. To provide a standardized tool for public use, a clinical study will be conducted to evaluate the VEGANScreener against a reference dietary assessment method and nutritional biomarkers.

Background And Aims: Prolonged fasting, which leads to the mobilization of fat from adipose tissue, can result in the development of hepatosteatosis. However, it is not yet known whether the accumulation of fat in the liver after fasting can be affected by concurrent obesity. Therefore, this study aimed to assess how excessive adiposity influences changes in liver fat content induced by fasting and subsequent refeeding.

Purpose: During the initial phase of the pandemic, healthcare professionals faced difficulties due to the limited availability of comprehensive learning resources on managing patients affected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The COVID-19 Skills Preparation Course (C19_SPACE) was tailored to meet the overwhelming demand for specialized training. The primary objective of this study was to assess the efficacy and impact of this program on enhancing clinical knowledge and to identify factors affecting this improvement.

Fasting induces significant shifts in substrate utilization with signs of acute insulin resistance (IR), while obesity is associated with chronic IR. Nonetheless, both states substantially influence adipose tissue (AT) function. Therefore, in this interventional study (NCT04260542), we investigated if excessive adiposity in premenopausal women alters insulin sensitivity and AT metabolic and endocrine activity in response to a 60-h fast and a subsequent 48-h refeeding period.

Remdesivir therapy has been declared as efficient in the early stages of Covid-19. Of the 339 patients (males 55.8%, age 71(59;77) years) with a detectable viral load, 140 were treated with remdesivir (of those 103 in the ICU and 57 immunosuppressed) and retrospectively compared with 199 patients (of those 82 in the ICU and 28 immunosuppressed) who were denied therapy due to advanced Covid-19.

Introduction: The aim of this observational, multicenter study was to assess the real-world use of brodalumab for the treatment of moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in patients in the Czech Republic, using data from the BIOREP registry.
Methods: The study included 273 patients aged ≥ 18 years with moderate-to-severe psoriasis who received brodalumab. Endpoints were drug survival (time from treatment initiation to discontinuation), effectiveness [Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI)], and health-related quality-of-life [Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI)].

Aims: Abiraterone treatment requires regular drug intake under fasting conditions due to pronounced food effect, which may impact patient adherence. The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate adherence to abiraterone treatment in patients with prostate cancer. To achieve this aim, an abiraterone population pharmacokinetic model was developed and patients' adherence has been estimated by comparison of measured levels of abiraterone with population model-based simulations.

Background: Immunotherapy and targeted therapy are currently two alternative backbones in the therapy of BRAF-mutated malignant melanoma. However, predictive biomarkers that would help with treatment selection are lacking.
Methods: This retrospective study investigated outcomes of anti-programmed death receptor-1 monotherapy and targeted therapy in the first-line setting in patients with metastatic BRAF-mutated melanoma, focusing on clinical and laboratory parameters associated with treatment outcome.

Aims: A recently published trial has shown no differences in outcomes between patients with new-onset supraventricular arrhythmia (SVA) in septic shock treated with either propafenone or amiodarone. However, these outcome data have not been evaluated in relation to the presence or absence of a dilated left atrium (LA).
Methods And Results: Patients with SVA and a left ventricular ejection fraction ≥ 35% were randomized to receive intravenous propafenone (70 mg bolus followed by 400-840 mg/24 h) or amiodarone (300 mg bolus followed by 600-1800 mg/24 h).

Introduction: Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease. Despite the availability of several therapies, many patients affected by this disease remain untreated, do not have adequate response, or suffer from treatment-related toxic effects. It has been shown that the interleukin (IL)-17 pathway plays a key role in the immunopathogenesis of psoriasis.
