Purpose: Assessment of scaphoid union after operative treatment might be associated with uncertainty, disagreement, and misinterpretation. Union is defined as consolidation on three of four X-ray views. Computed tomography (CT) scans are increasingly used to evaluate union of scaphoid fractures and nonunion.

Background: Currently, there are no reliable biomarkers for predicting treatment response in chronic inflammatory diseases (CIDs).
Objective: To determine whether serum microfibrillar-associated protein 4 (MFAP4) levels can predict the treatment response to biological therapy in patients with CIDs.
Methods: The BELIEVE study was originally designed as a prospective, multi-center cohort study of 233 patients with either rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, psoriasis, axial spondyloarthritis, Crohn's disease, or ulcerative colitis, initiating treatment with a biologic agent (or switching to another).

Cardiovascular clinical trials continue to under-represent children, older adults, females and people from ethnic minority groups relative to population disease distribution. Here we describe strategies to foster trial representativeness, with proposed actions at the levels of trial funding, design, conduct and dissemination. In particular, trial representativeness may be increased through broad recruitment strategies and site selection criteria that reflect the diversity of patients in the catchment area, as well as limiting unjustified exclusion criteria and using pragmatic designs that minimize research burden on patients (including embedded and decentralized trials).

There is a growing focus on person-centered care, emphasizing the importance of respecting inter-individual differences and implementing individualized treatment initiatives. Prior research has established an association between personality traits, body mass index, and health-related behaviors. The aim of this study was to explore the potential of personality trait assessments in identifying individuals at risk of glycemic dysregulation and increasing BMI.

Objective: This scoping review aims to identify and map interventions and/or strategies used to support the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding for women at risk of delaying initiation, early cessation, or not breastfeeding due to low levels of education, psychosocial problems, and/or socioeconomic challenges in high-income countries.
Introduction: While breastfeeding has lifelong beneficial health effects for women and infants, there is a risk of delaying initiation, early cessation, or not initiating breastfeeding at all due to factors related to health inequalities, such as low levels of education, psychosocial problems, and/or socioeconomic constraints.
Inclusion Criteria: This review will include eligible quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods studies, as well as systematic reviews and gray literature.

Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma is characterized by malignant T cells proliferating in a unique tumor microenvironment dominated by keratinocytes (KCs). Skin colonization and infection by Staphylococcus aureus are a common cause of morbidity and are suspected of fueling disease activity. In this study, we show that expression of HLA-DRs, high-affinity receptors for staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs), by KCs correlates with IFN-γ expression in the tumor microenvironment.

Objectives: For over 30 years, quality improvement (QI) methods have been used as a means of increasing the quality and safety of healthcare services, but with mixed success. One explanation highlighted in the literature for this outcome is the overemphasis on technical elements of change, and a failure to fully appreciate the human side of change. Behavioral insights (BI) is an approach that utilizes knowledge and tools from a broad range of scientific disciplines, such as neuroscience and behavioral psychology, to support behavior change.

Purpose: The objective of the current study was to conduct a rigorous assessment of the psychometric properties of the Victorian Institute of Sports Assessment-patellar tendinopathy (VISA-P).
Methods: Rasch analysis, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and multivariable linear regression were used to assess the psychometric properties of the VISA-P questionnaire in 184 Danish patients with patellar tendinopathy who had symptoms ranging from under 3 months to over 1 year. A group of 100 healthy Danish persons was included as a reference for known-group validation.

Introduction: The implementation of tobacco control policies has been a neglected topic in tobacco research. A comprehensive Tobacco Action Plan including plain packaging, a point-of-sale display ban, a ban on characterizing flavors (in products other than cigarettes), a strengthening of the promotion and marketing ban, a ban on the sale of novel nicotine products to minors, smoke-and nicotine-free-school hours in all-schools with minors, and a significant increase in tobacco tax, was adopted in Denmark in 2019.

Purpose: To investigate power Doppler (PD) activity and tendon structure (between the injured and contralateral limb) in patients with unilateral patellar tendinopathy (PT) using ultrasonography (US). Secondly, the aim was to determine the intra-rater reliability of the PD activity and tendon structure.
Methods: This study analyzed US baseline data from 57 male participants with symptomatic unilateral PT who had been enrolled in one of two randomized clinical trials.

The DEXamethasone twice for pain treatment after Total Knee Arthroplasty (DEX-2-TKA) trial showed that adding one and two doses of 24 mg intravenous dexamethasone to paracetamol, ibuprofen and local infiltration analgesia, reduced morphine consumption (primary outcome) within 48 h after TKA. We aimed to explore the differences in the effect of dexamethasone on morphine consumption in different subgroups. Quantile regression adjusted for site was used to test for significant interaction between the predefined dichotomised subgroups and treatment group.

Purpose: Some gut bacteria can produce enzymes (collagenases) that can break down collagen in the intestinal wall. This could be a part of the pathophysiology of anastomotic leakage (AL). This systematic review aimed to investigate if such bacteria were present more frequently in AL patients versus non-AL patients following colorectal surgery.

Aims: Right ventricular free wall (RVFWLS) and four-chamber longitudinal strain (RV4CLS) are associated with adverse events in various patient populations including patients with heart failure (HF). We sought to investigate the prognostic value of RVFWLS and RV4CLS for the development of incident HF in participants from the general population.
Methods And Results: Participants from the 5th Copenhagen City Heart Study (2011-2015) without known chronic ischaemic heart disease or HF at baseline were included.

Introduction: Heavy-load free-flow resistance exercise (HL-FFRE) is a widely used training modality. Recently, low-load blood-flow restricted resistance exercise (LL-BFRRE) has gained attention in both athletic and clinical settings as an alternative when conventional HL-FFRE is contraindicated or not tolerated. LL-BFRRE has been shown to result in physiological adaptations in muscle and connective tissue that are comparable to those induced by HL-FFRE.

A traumatic upbringing increases the risks of antenatal health problems, unfavourable pregnancy outcomes, and mental disorders. Such childhood experiences may affect women's pa-renting skills and the social-emotional functioning of their children. Research on screening for adverse childhood experiences in antenatal care is limited.

Purpose: When first-line chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) treatment fails, patients can either be treated with oral or injected systemic corticosteroids. Although the EPOS and international guidelines for CRS do not mention injected corticosteroids, it is commonly used by ear, nose, and throat specialists. While the risks of systemic corticosteroids, in general, are known, the pros and cons of injected and oral corticosteroids (OCS) in CRS treatment are unclear.

Adverse childhood experiences have a potential lifelong impact on health. A traumatic upbringing may increase antenatal health risks in mothers-to-be and impact child development in their offspring. Yet, little is known about the identification of adverse childhood experiences in antenatal care.

Background: Multiple sclerosis is a chronic immune-mediated disease of the brain and spinal cord resulting in physical and cognitive impairment in young adults. It is hypothesized that a disrupted bacterial and viral gut microbiota is a part of the pathogenesis mediating disease impact through an altered gut microbiota-brain axis. The aim of this study is to explore the characteristics of gut microbiota in multiple sclerosis and to associate it with disease variables, as the etiology of the disease remains only partially known.
