There is an interaction between dendrocytes and mast cells in the skin. However, in elastosis-related diseases such as actinic cheilitis (AC) and lower lip squamous cell carcinoma (LLSCC), this interaction remains unknown. We investigated the presence of intact and degranulated mast cells in AC and LLSCC.

Objective: Fanconi anemia (FA), a rare genetic disorder, has not been comprehensively studied regarding its dental and craniofacial phenotypes. This study aimed to systematically review the available evidence on dental, occlusion, and craniofacial anomalies in individuals with FA and to describe the occurrence of these anomalies in a cohort from two Brazilian referral centers.
Materials And Methods: Electronic searches were conducted across six databases, supplemented by manual searches and gray literature.

Background: Treatment for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is often associated with various adverse effects, including changes in salivary parameters and complaints of halitosis. This study aimed to investigate changes in volatile sulfur compound (VSC) levels and salivary parameters in patients undergoing treatment for HNSCC.
Methods: This prospective longitudinal study was conducted at a Brazilian oncology center, where a convenience sample of 24 HNSCC patients undergoing radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy were evaluated for VSC levels, salivary flow, pH, viscosity, dry mouth, and tongue coating.

Background: Ectomesenchymal chondromyxoid tumor (EMCMT) is a rare neoplasm that mainly affects the tongue and harbors recurrent, although not exclusive, gene fusions. Owing to its rarity, overlapping features with other tumors may lead to challenges in the microscopic diagnosis. We aimed to perform a systematic review focusing on the histomolecular findings of EMCMT of the oral and maxillofacial region and to evaluate the possible association between microscopic features with the genetic background.

This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the interplay between volatile sulfur compounds (VSC), biofilm, salivary parameters, and periodontal status in patients with and without periodontal disease. Sixty-four subjects diagnosed with periodontitis and 60 periodontally healthy individuals were included. Probing depth, clinical attachment level, bleeding on probing, tongue coating index, plaque index, number of teeth, spinnability of unstimulated whole saliva, and salivary flow rate were evaluated.

Sjӧgren's syndrome (SS), also known as Sjögren's disease, is a chronic autoimmune condition predominantly affecting the salivary and lacrimal glands. The disease is driven by autoimmune responses involving the activation and actions of major innate- and adaptive immune cell subsets. However, the specific characteristics and roles of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in SS remain elusive.

Orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) represents a dynamic process in which the alveolar bone undergoes resorption at compression sites and deposition at tension sites, orchestrated by osteoclasts and osteoblasts, respectively. This mechanism serves as a valuable model for studying various aspects of bone adaptation, including root resorption and the cellular response to mechanical force stimuli. The protocol outlined here offers a straightforward approach to investigate OTM, establishing 0.

Sjӧgren's syndrome is a systemic autoimmune disease primarily targeting the salivary and lacrimal glands. Our previous investigations have shown that administration of interleukin-22 (IL-22), an IL-10 family cytokine known for its complex and context-dependent effects on tissues, either protective- or detrimental, to salivary glands leads to hypofunction and pathological changes of salivary glands in C57BL/6 mice and in non-obese diabetic (NOD) mice, the latter being a commonly used model of Sjӧgren's syndrome. This study aims to delineate the pathophysiological roles of endogenously produced IL-22 in the development of salivary gland pathologies and dysfunction associated with Sjӧgren's disease in the NOD mouse model.
