Background: Right ventricular dysfunction (RVD) is common in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, and it is associated with poor prognosis. However, no biomarker reflecting RVD is available for routine clinical use.
Methods: Proteomic analysis of myocardium from the left ventricle and right ventricle (RV) of patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction with (n=10) and without RVD (n=10) who underwent heart transplantation was performed.

JCO SEQUOIA (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT03336333) is a phase III, randomized, open-label trial that compared the oral Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitor zanubrutinib to bendamustine plus rituximab (BR) in treatment-naïve patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL). The initial prespecified analysis (median follow-up, 26.

Background: Cell cycle progression and leukemia development are tightly regulated processes in which even a small imbalance in the expression of cell cycle regulatory molecules and microRNAs (miRNAs) can lead to an increased risk of cancer/leukemia development. Here, we focus on the study of a ubiquitous, multifunctional, and oncogenic miRNA-hsa-miR-155-5p (miR-155, MIR155HG), which is overexpressed in malignancies including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Nonetheless, the precise mechanism of how miR-155 regulates the cell cycle in leukemic cells remains the subject of extensive research.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a progressive chronic disease causing visual impairment or central vision loss in the elderly. We hypothesized that successful rheopheresis would be associated with positive changes in soluble endoglin (sENG), PSCK9, alpha-2-macroglobulin (A2M), and hs-CRP levels. 31 elderly patients with the dry form of AMD, treated with rheopheresis with a follow-up period of at least 5 years and an average age of 68 ± 4 years, were evaluated.

Unlabelled: PURPOSE : Phase contrast magnetic resonance imaging (PC-MRI) represents an opportunity to non-invasively investigate cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) flow in patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH). Studies in recent years have explored the diagnostic and prognostic value of PC-MRI derived parameters. This review aims to identify all PC-MRI studies of iNPH published since 2010, synthesise a review based on collated results, and analyse specific flow parameters identified in the selected studies.

The concept of intratumoral microbiota is gaining attention in current research. Tumor-associated microbiota can activate oncogenic signaling pathways such as NF-κB, thereby promoting tumor development and progression. Numerous studies have demonstrated that curcumin and its analogs possess strong antitumor effects by targeting the NF-κB signaling pathway, along with potent antibacterial properties.

Background: Prostate cancer ranks as the second most frequently diagnosed cancer in men worldwide. Recent research highlights the crucial roles IL6ST-mediated signaling pathways play in the development and progression of various cancers, particularly through hyperactivated STAT3 signaling. However, the molecular programs mediated by IL6ST/STAT3 in prostate cancer are poorly understood.

Minimal residual disease (MRD) is one of the most important prognostic factors in multiple myeloma (MM) and a valid surrogate for progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Recently, MRD negativity was approved as an early clinical endpoint for accelerated drug approval in MM. Nevertheless, there is limited evidence of MRD utility in real-world setting.

NTRK-rearranged spindle cell neoplasm represents an emerging entity included in the latest 5th edition of WHO classification of both soft tissue and female genital tumors. By immunohistochemistry, they are commonly positive for CD34, S100 protein, and CD30 and typically harbor fusions of kinase genes such as NTRK1/2/3, RET, and BRAF. In the gynecological tract, they typically affect the uterine cervix or uterine body.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of intravenous (IV) secukinumab in patients with active psoriatic arthritis (PsA).
Methods: INVIGORATE-2 (NCT04209205) was a randomized, placebo-controlled, phase 3 trial. Patients with active PsA were randomized 1:1 to receive IV secukinumab (6 mg/kg at baseline followed by 3 mg/kg every four weeks [q4w]) or placebo.

Background: To evaluate the outcomes of first-line imatinib versus nilotinib treatment for chronic myeloid leukemia in the chronic phase (CML-CP) in real-world clinical practice.
Methods: A propensity score analysis was performed to eliminate imbalances between the treatment groups. In the analysis, 163 patients in the nilotinib group and 163 patients in the matched imatinib group were retrospectively evaluated.

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of baseline body mass index (BMI) and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) on the effectiveness and safety of initiating iGlarLixi (insulin glargine 100 U/ml and lixisenatide) in people with type 2 diabetes (T2D) in routine clinical practice.
Methods: We pooled patient-level data from 1406 people with inadequately controlled T2D, initiating a 24-week iGlarLixi treatment. Analysis sets were based on baseline BMI and HbA1c.

The section on mesenchymal tumors in the 5th edition of WHO classification of skin tumors has undergone several changes, the most important of which is the inclusion of newly identified tumor entities, which will be the main focus of this review article. These specifically include three novel cutaneous mesenchymal tumors with melanocytic differentiation, and rearrangements of the CRTC1::TRIM11, ACTIN::MITF, and MITF::CREM genes as well as EWSR1::SMAD3-rearranged fibroblastic tumors, superficial CD34-positive fibroblastic tumors, and NTRK-rearranged spindle cell neoplasms. Some of the other most important changes will be briefly mentioned as well.

We investigate the adsorption of water molecules in the zeolite H-MFI at isolated Brønsted acid sites (BAS) for loadings of 1, 2, and 3 HO/BAS. We consider two approaches to the OAl-O(H)-Si sites: the Brønsted-type approach of HO to the acidic proton and the Lewis-type approach to the aluminium atom of the AlO tetrahedron. From the twelve crystallographically inequivalent framework sites for Al, a representative set of six active site positions is chosen.

Background/aim: Classical serum cancer biomarkers, such as carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cancer antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9), remain important tools in colorectal cancer (CRC) management for disease follow up. However, their sensitivity and specificity are low for diagnostic and prognostic evaluation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of biomarkers reflecting biological activity of tumors - tissue polypeptide specific antigen (TPS), cytokeratin fragment 19 (CYFRA 21-1), thymidine kinase (TK), insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and insulin-like growth factor binding protein 3 (IGF-BP3) - together with the CEA and CA 19-9 in CRC diagnosis and prognosis.

Regulation of neuroimmune interactions varies across avian species. Little is presently known about the interplay between periphery and central nervous system (CNS) in parrots, birds sensitive to neuroinflammation. Here we investigated the systemic and CNS responses to dextran sulphate sodium (DSS)- and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced subclinical acute peripheral inflammation in budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus).
