Background: Diabetic patients often present with complex limb pathology, resulting in impaired sensation in the distal extremities making tactile injuries such as burns difficult to notice. Healing of diabetic wounds is significantly impeded by a complex environment comprising biofilm formation, excessive inflammation, and compromised angiogenic capacity, leading to a disordered physiological healing process. Restoration and maintenance of a normal and orderly healing process in diabetic wounds remain unmet therapeutic objectives. Recent studies have unveiled disrupted metabolism in the progression of cleft palate (CP), a congenital anomaly characterized by defective fusion of facial structures. Nonetheless, the precise composition of this disrupted metabolism remains elusive, prompting us to identify these components and elucidate primary metabolic irregularities contributing to CP pathogenesis. Purpose: This study aims to analyze the pattern of deaths in detention in Northern Tunisia as well as the causes of death.
Design/methodology/approach: The authors conducted a cross-sectional retrospective study including all the casualties of death in detention examined in the legal medicine Department in the main teaching hospital from 2005 to 2019. The department covers 10 out of the 11 governorates of Northern Tunisia and 13 prisons.
Immune responses that occur following burn injury comprise a series of reactions that are activated in response to damaged autologous tissues, followed by removal of damaged tissues and foreign pathogens such as invading bacteria, and tissue repair. These immune responses are considered to be programmed in living organisms. Developments of modern medicine have led to the saving of burned patients who could not be cured previously; however, the programmed response is no longer able to keep up, and various problems have arisen.

Background: In burn patients, septic shock and acute kidney injury (AKI) with use of continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) severely increase morbidity and mortality. Methods: A retrospectively observational study of 35 severe burn patients admitted to the Burn Center (Turin, Italy, from January 2017 to December 2022), who underwent CRRT for AKI-associated septic shock.
