Anesthesia for impacted tracheobronchial foreign body (FB) removal in pediatrics is challenging owing to shared airway, need of tubeless apneic anesthesia, and higher risk of airway complications. Transnasal humidified rapid insufflation ventilatory exchange (THRIVE) has unique applications for apneic anesthesia. The authors describe two pediatric cases of impacted lower bronchial FB that were difficult to retrieve and required long procedure time.

Audio-Vestibular Findings in Individuals with Takayasu's Arteritis.

Takayasu's Arteritis is defined as inflammatory disease of the large blood vessels with unknown cause mostly affecting the aorta and its main branches. The patients diagnosed with Takayasu's arteritis are reported to have complaint of chronic dizziness. However, literature lacks detailed clinical evaluation of the auditory vestibular function in such patients.

Case: The authors present a case of retro-odontoid pseudotumor (ROP) with congenital C1 assimilation and C2-C3 block vertebra without radiological instability who presented with cervical myelopathy with spastic quadriparesis. The patient was managed with occipitocervical fusion and C1 laminectomy. She had rapid neurological recovery in 3 months postoperatively and at 2 years had complete resolution of the retro-odontoid mass.

Multilevel and Multifactorial Interventions to Reduce Alcohol Consumption and Improve ART Adherence and Related Factors Among HIV Positive Men in Mumbai, India.

Alcohol use has a deleterious effect on the health status of persons living with HIV, negatively affecting antiretroviral adherence and increasing the risk of transmission. Alcohol use is not an isolated behavior but intimately linked to stigma and poor psychological status among other factors. This paper utilizes a crossover design to test the efficacy of three multilevel interventions, individual counselling (IC), group intervention (GI) and collective advocacy (CA) for change, among HIV positive males who consume alcohol, treated at five ART Centers in urban Maharashtra, India.

Short-Form New Knee Society Score: What Is Its Responsiveness and Convergent Validity with Other Scores?

The short-form version of New Knee Society Score (SF-NKSS) was designed with a purpose to reduce respondent burden. Literature review revealed only one report by Scuderi et al on responsiveness of derived SF-NKSS, but it was evaluated in two separate patient cohorts pre- and postsurgery. Our study had evaluated responsiveness and convergent validity of derived SF-NKSS in a single, large patient cohort followed longitudinally from preoperative status to over 1 year.
