Background: Following treatment sufficient to normalize thyrotropin (TSH), nonpregnant hypothyroid adults display higher free thyroxine (FT(4)) concentrations than a reference population. Our aim is to determine whether FT(4) concentrations are higher during pregnancy among women treated for hypothyroidism and whether their weight is associated with FT(4) levels. Weight/FT(4) relationships have not previously been reported in treated hypothyroid adults (either pregnant or nonpregnant).

There exist multiple challenges associated with the current response assessment criteria for high-grade gliomas, including the uncertain role of changes in nonenhancing T2 hyperintensity, and the phenomena of pseudoresponse and pseudoprogression in the setting of antiangiogenic and chemoradiation therapies, respectively. Advanced physiological magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), including diffusion and perfusion (dynamic susceptibility contrast MRI and dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI) sensitive techniques for overcoming response assessment challenges, has been proposed, with their own potential advantages and inherent shortcomings. Measurement variability exists for conventional and advanced MRI techniques, necessitating the standardization of image acquisition parameters in order to establish the utility of these imaging methods in multicenter trials for high-grade gliomas.

Metanephric adenoma (MA) is a rare benign renal neoplasm that shares morphologic and immunophenotypic overlap with epithelial-predominant Wilms tumor (e-WT) and with the solid variant of papillary renal cell carcinoma (s-PRCC). Cadherin 17 (CDH17) is expressed primarily in the normal intestine and digestive tract tumors and has not been detected in tumors from other sites including the kidney. Small- and large-conductance Ca(2+)-activated K(+)channels (SKCa and BKCa, respectively) may be important targets for therapeutic interventions in a variety of cardiac conditions. In cardiomyocytes, BKCa channels are localized to mitochondria where they beneficially modulate reactive oxygen species, mitochondrial Ca(2+), and respiration. Objective: Prior research has shown that youth with co-occurring tic disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) may differ from those with non-tic-related OCD in terms of clinical characteristics and treatment responsiveness. A broad definition of "tic-related" was used to examine whether children with tics in the Pediatric OCD Treatment Study II differed from those without tics in terms of demographic and phenomenological characteristics and acute treatment outcomes.

Method: Participants were 124 youth aged 7 to 17 years, inclusive, with a primary diagnosis of OCD who were partial responders to an adequate serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SRI) trial.

Aims: Cadherin 17 (CDH17) is expressed primarily in normal intestinal epithelium and digestive tract tumours, and has limited expression in other neoplasms. The aims of this study were to examine CDH17 expression in well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumours (WDNETs) from various primary sites, representing the foregut, midgut, and hindgut, and tumours metastasizing to the liver, and to correlate the differences between the expression of CDH17, CDX2, and thyroid transcription factor 1 (TTF1).

Methods And Results: We investigated CDH17 immunohistochemical expression in 150 primary WDNETs from eight anatomical sites, including 68 from the foregut, 70 from the midgut, and 12 from the hindgut, and 15 metastases.

In response to increasing rates of opioid overdose deaths in Rhode Island (RI), the RI Department of Health, RI emergency physicians, and Anchor Community Recovery Center designed an emergency department (ED) naloxone distribution and peer-recovery coach program for people at risk of opioid overdose. ED patients at risk for overdose are offered a take home naloxone kit, patient education video, and, when available, an Anchor peer recovery coach to provide recovery support and referral to treatment. In August 2014, the program launched at Kent, Miriam, and Rhode Island Hospital Emergency Departments.

Purpose: One third of patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) achieve pathologic complete response (pCR) with standard neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). CALGB 40603 (Alliance), a 2 × 2 factorial, open-label, randomized phase II trial, evaluated the impact of adding carboplatin and/or bevacizumab.

Patients And Methods: Patients (N = 443) with stage II to III TNBC received paclitaxel 80 mg/m(2) once per week (wP) for 12 weeks, followed by doxorubicin plus cyclophosphamide once every 2 weeks (ddAC) for four cycles, and were randomly assigned to concurrent carboplatin (area under curve 6) once every 3 weeks for four cycles and/or bevacizumab 10 mg/kg once every 2 weeks for nine cycles.

The differential diagnosis between eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is often challenging. We recently showed that the ALOX15 protein is expressed in 95% of esophageal biopsies from patients with a definitive diagnosis of EoE. Here we correlated ALOX15 expression with the clinical classification of EoE or GERD in a cohort of consecutive pediatric patients (n = 62) with at least 1 esophageal biopsy containing at least 15 eosinophils per high-power field (eos/HPF).
