Since its introduction in 2001, multiple platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) centrifugation protocols have emerged, but the variations in growth factor release that result from these protocols remain unclear. This review aimed to evaluate growth factor release across three PRF protocols: leukocyte-PRF (L-PRF), advanced-PRF (A-PRF/+), and injectable-PRF (i-PRF). A comprehensive search was conducted using the MEDLINE and Embase databases, identifying 14 studies that met the inclusion criteria.

Background: Addition of neoadjuvant immune checkpoint inhibition to standard-of-care interventions for locally advanced oral cancer could improve clinical outcome.
Methods: In this study, 16 evaluable patients with stage III/IV oral cancer were treated with one dose of 480 mg nivolumab 3 weeks prior to surgery. Primary objectives were safety, feasibility, and suitability of programmed death receptor ligand-1 positron emission tomography (PD-L1 PET) as a biomarker for response.

The available reference data for the mandible and mandibular growth consists primarily of two-dimensional linear or angular measurements. The aim of this study was to create the first open-source, three-dimensional statistical shape model of the mandible that spans the complete growth period. Computed tomography scans of 678 mandibles from children and young adults between 0 and 22 years old were included in the model.

Imaging with bone scans plays an important role in the diagnostic path of patients with unilateral condylar hyperactivity or unilateral condylar hyperplasia (UCH). The aim of this study is to perform a systematic review of the diagnostic performance of the bone SPECT and SPECT/CT scan for the diagnosis of UCH. PubMed, SCOPUS and EMBASE were searched electronically to identify diagnostic accuracy studies that assessed the diagnostic value of bone SPECT and SPECT/CT for the diagnosis of UCH, Meta-analyses were performed with Metadisc 1.

Radiation exposure is a major health concern due to bone involvement including mandible, causing deleterious effects on bone metabolism, and healing with an increasing risk of infection and osteoradionecrosis. This study aims to investigate the radiotherapy-induced microstructural changes in the human mandible by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Mandibular cortical bone biopsies were obtained from control, irradiated, and patients with osteoradionecrosis (ORN).

This prospective cohort study aimed to assess long-term safety, dental implant survival, and clinical and radiological outcomes after maxillary sinus floor elevation (MSFE; lateral window technique) using freshly isolated autologous stromal vascular fraction (SVF) combined with calcium phosphate ceramics. All 10 patients previously participating in a phase I trial were included in a 10-year follow-up. They received either β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP; n = 5) or biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP; n = 5) with SVF-supplementation on one side (study).

Objective: The aim of this systematic review(SR) is to comprehensively and critically summarise and synthesise the available scientific evidence from observational studies that use the decayed-missed-filled(DMF) index to determine caries experiences among adult patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) as compared to individuals without DM(non-DM).
Data: Indices that present examinations of decayed-filled-surfaces(DFS), decayed-missed-filled-surfaces(DMFS), and decayed-missed-filled-teeth(DMFT) established from observational studies were considered.
Sources: MEDLINE-PubMed and Cochrane Central databases were searched through 1 February 2023 to identify studies that evaluate DMF indices for adult patients with DM compared to non-DM.

Purpose: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is frequently treated with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) or mandibular advancement devices (MADs). For various reasons, both treatment options are often affected by low adherence. While factors associated with low CPAP adherence are described in the literature extensively, less is known about adherence to MAD therapy.

Oral-functioning impairment can negatively affect the quality of life (QoL) of head and neck cancer (HNC) patients after receiving radiotherapy (RT). Assessment of patient-reported oral functioning throughout treatment can improve patient care. This scoping review aims to propose a definition for oral functioning for HNC patients and to map out the available questionnaires measuring patient-reported oral functioning in RT-treated HNC patients.

Targeting macrophages to regulate the immune microenvironment is a new strategy for bone regeneration with nano-drugs. Nano-drugs have achieved surprising anti-inflammatory and bone-regenerative effects, however, their underlying mechanisms in macrophages remain to be clarified. Macrophage polarization, immunomodulation, and osteogenesis are governed by autophagy.
