Background: The interim analysis of the randomized phase 3 ESCORT-1st study demonstrated significantly longer overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) for camrelizumab-chemotherapy than placebo-chemotherapy in untreated advanced/metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Here, we present the final analysis of this study and investigate potential indicators associated with OS.
Methods: Patients were randomized 1:1 to receive camrelizumab (200 mg) or placebo, both in combination with up to six cycles of paclitaxel (175 mg/m) and cisplatin (75 mg/m).

Background: Chinese topography appears a three-rung ladder-like distribution of decreasing elevation from northwest to southeast, which is divided by two sloping edges. Previous studies have reported that prevalence of thyroid diseases differed by altitude, and geographical factors were associated with thyroid disorders. To explore the association between three-rung ladder-like regions and thyroid disorders according to unique Chinese topographic features, we conducted an epidemiological cross-sectional study from 2015-2017 that covered all 31 mainland Chinese provinces.

A growing number of studies have demonstrated that the skeleton is an endocrine organ that is involved in glucose metabolism and plays a significant role in human glucose homeostasis. However, there is still a limited understanding of the in vivo glucose uptake and distribution across the human skeleton. To address this issue, we aimed to elucidate the detailed profile of glucose uptake across the skeleton using a total-body positron emission tomography (PET) scanner.

Early diagnosis can help prevent and reduce the adverse effects of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). This study intended to investigate key circulating long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) as novel biomarkers for diagnosis of GDM at the early stages. First, lncRNA microarray analysis was conducted for plasma samples of GDM women before delivery and 48 h after delivery.

Background: Lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) is a highly malignant tumor with an extremely poor prognosis. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) improve survival in some patients with LUSC. Tumor mutation burden (TMB) is a useful biomarker to predict the efficacy of ICIs.

Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) can alter the vaginal microbiome composition and structure, and this may be correlated with its variable treatment efficacy. Integrated analysis of the mycobiome and bacteriome in VVC could facilitate accurate diagnosis of infected patients and further decipher the characterized bacteriome in different types of VVC. Our mycobiome analysis determined two common types of VVC, which were clustered into two community state types (CSTs) featured by Candida glabrata (CST I) and Candida albicans (CST II).

Objective: This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) for obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) in obese individuals and identify the related factors affecting its efficacy.
Methods: The clinical and follow-up data of 37 obese patients with OSAHS who underwent LSG in the Laparoscopic Surgery Department of Zibo Central Hospital from January 2017 to July 2018 were analyzed retrospectively. The effect of this operation on patients' weight and OSAHS was studied, and the factors affecting weight and OSAHS were examined through univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis.

The mechanism of parturition is still unclear. Evidence has shown that delivery is associated with cellular senescence of the amniotic membrane. We isolated fetal lung-associated exosomes from the amniotic fluid from term labor (TL-exos) and verified that the exosomes can cause primary human amniotic epithelial cell (hAEC) senescence and apoptosis and can release higher levels of senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP)-related molecules and proinflammatory damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) than exosomes isolated from the amniotic fluid from term not in labor (TNIL-exos).

The gut microbiota has been linked to many cancers, yet its role in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) progression remains unclear. Here, we show decreased diversity in the gut microbiota of AML patients or murine models. Gut microbiota dysbiosis induced by antibiotic treatment accelerates murine AML progression while faecal microbiota transplantation reverses this process.

Purpose: We report a rare case of recurrent Descemet's membrane detachment (DMD) post-trabeculectomy which was resolved spontaneously without surgical intervention.
Observations: A 66-year-old patient with a history of acute angle closure glaucoma in his right eye presented to our hospital. The intraocular pressure (IOP) of his right was 40 mm Hg, and the visual acuity was10/20.

Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) seriously affects the health of mothers and babies, and there are still no effective early diagnostic markers. Therefore, it is necessary to find diagnostic biomarkers for screening GDM in early pregnancy. Circular RNA (circRNA) is more stable than linear RNA, and can be encapsulated in exosomes and participate in the pathological process of various diseases, which makes it a better candidate biomarker for various diseases.

This review aims to integrate the latest knowledge about napping in older adults to provide implications for future research.
Recent Findings: The prevalence of napping in older adults ranges from 20% to 60% in different studies, but has been consistently reported to be higher than in other age groups.

Background: Accumulating evidence has revealed that circular RNAs (circRNAs), as novel noncoding RNAs, play critical roles in carcinogenesis and tumor progression. However, the functions and molecular mechanisms of circRNAs in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) are largely unknown.
Methods: The expression and functions of circAGAP1 were identified in clinical samples, ccRCC cells and in vivo animal models.

Background Unruptured intracerebral aneurysm wall enhancement (AWE) on vessel wall magnetic resonance imaging scans may be a promising predictor for rupture-prone intracerebral aneurysms. However, the pathophysiology of AWE remains unclear. To this end, the association between AWE and histopathological changes was assessed in this study.

Background: Considering the increasing incidence of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae in China, this study aimed to establish the in vitro effectiveness of imipenem/relebactam (IMI/REL) on clinical Enterobacteriaceae isolates derived from intra-abdominal infections (IAIs), respiratory tract infections (RTIs), and urinary tract infections (UTIs) in China between 2015 and 2018.
Methods: In total, 8781 Enterobacteriaceae isolates from IAI, RTI, and UTI samples were collected from 22 hospitals across 7 geographic regions of China. Susceptibility to antimicrobial drugs was tested using the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute broth microdilution and breakpoints, and IMI/REL activity was assessed using United States Food and Drug Administration guidelines.

Type 1 diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia due to progressive destruction of pancreatic beta cells via autoimmune attack. Meteorin-like protein (metrnl) is a secreted protein homologous to the neurotrophin metrn and it is induced after exercise in the skeletal muscle. In our paper published previously, we showed that the serum level of metrnl was significantly correlated with the lipid profile, glucose profile and insulin resistance.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are new and promising therapeutic agents for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, along with demonstrating remarkable efficacy, ICIs can also trigger immune-related adverse events. Checkpoint inhibitor pneumonitis (CIP) has been reported to have a morbidity rate of 3% to 5% and a mortality rate of 10% to 17%.
