Objective: The use of intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM) has become an imperative adjunct to the resection of intramedullary spinal cord tumors (IMSCTs). While the diagnostic utility of IONM during the immediate postoperative period has been previously studied, its long-term diagnostic accuracy has seldom been thoroughly assessed. The aim of this study was to evaluate long-term variations in the diagnostic accuracy of transcranial motor evoked potentials (tcMEPs), somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEPs), and D-wave recordings during IMSCT excision.

Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) antibody associated disorders (MOGAD) have been recognized over the past 10 years as distinct inflammatory, demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system (CNS). Antibodies against MOG are found mostly in patients with optic neuritis (ON), acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), and aquaporin-4 antibody (AQP4-abs)-seronegative neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD). However, data on the disease course and disability outcomes of these patients are scarce.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a rare condition in the pediatric population, but it is usually associated with worse prognosis compared to the adult population. Surgical resection is the gold standard and most effective treatment for CRC. Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and Heated Intra-Peritoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a feasible option in resectable primary tumour with carcinomatosis and non-evidence of extra-abdominal disease.

Background: Exercise training provides benefits for individuals with cystic fibrosis; however, the optimal program is unclear. High-intensity interval training is safe and effective for improving 'functional capacity' in these individuals with peak rate of O uptake typically referenced. The ability to adjust submaximal rate of oxygen uptake (V̇O kinetics) might be more important for everyday function because maximal efforts are usually not undertaken.

Colonic diverticular disease.

Nat Rev Dis Primers

March 2020

IBD Center, Department of Gastroenterology, Humanitas Clinical and Research Center - IRCCS -, Rozzano, Italy.

Diverticula are outpouchings of the intestinal wall and are common anatomical alterations detected in the human colon. Colonic diverticulosis (the presence of diverticula in the colon; referred to as diverticulosis) remains asymptomatic in most individuals but ~25% of individuals will develop symptomatic diverticulosis, termed colonic diverticular disease (also known as diverticular disease). Diverticular disease can range in severity from symptomatic uncomplicated diverticular disease (SUDD) to symptomatic disease with complications such as acute diverticulitis or diverticular haemorrhage.

The Impact of Inadequate ("AX") Transbronchial Biopsies on Post-lung Transplant CLAD or Death.

Transplantation

February 2021

Toronto Lung Transplant Program, University Health Network, University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada.

Background: Procuring a good quality transbronchial-biopsy sample is essential for diagnosing acute cellular rejection after lung transplantation (LT). Insufficient transbronchial-biopsy samples are graded "AX." We hypothesized that AX samples may be associated with a higher risk for chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD) or death/retransplant, through a potential anatomic or physiologic underlying pulmonary process or because of undiagnosed acute cellular rejection episodes.
