With the development of medical technology, the fixation method of the oral duct is constantly updated, and the selection of a relatively safe, effective, simple and fast fixation method of the oral duct has been widely concerned. However, the use of traditional 3M I-shaped tape fixation needs to be cut, which wastes time and easily leads to the outward displacement of the tracheal tube, and is easy to be soaked by oral secretions, resulting in facial skin damage. Therefore, the medical staffs of the department of critical care medicine of Hengshui People's Hospital designed a self-made tracheal catheter fixing band (composed of the main structure, the fixed band, the internal adjusting structure and the internal structure of the fixed block), and obtained the national utility model patent (ZL 2018 2 0508681.

A study of mechanical ventilation in the ICU after cardiac surgery: a bibliometric analysis.

Background: After cardiac surgery, patients are often admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to various preoperative factors and continue to receive mechanical ventilation. This study sought to conduct a bibliometric analysis to summarize studies on mechanical ventilation among postoperative ICU patients who had undergone cardiac surgery.

Methods: We searched the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E) database using the following terms: "cardiac surgery (Topic)", "intensive care (Topic)" and "ventilation (Topic)".

Canagliflozin mitigates ferroptosis and ameliorates heart failure in rats with preserved ejection fraction.

Recently, hypoglycemic drugs belonging to sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) have generated significant interest due to their clear cardiovascular benefits for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) since there are no effective drugs that may improve clinical outcomes for these patients over a prolonged period. But, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear, particularly its effects on ferroptosis, a newly defined mechanism of iron-dependent non-apoptotic cell death during heart failure (HF). Here, with proteomics, we demonstrated that ferroptosis might be a key mechanism in a rat model of high-salt diet-induced HFpEF, characterized by iron overloading and lipid peroxidation, which was blocked following treatment with canagliflozin.

Frozen blastocysts: Assessing the importance of day 5/day 6 blastocysts or blastocyst quality.

The aim of the present study was to analyze the high-quality blastocyst (HB) rate in all embryo frozen cycles and investigate the pregnancy outcomes for day 5/day 6 (D5/D6) blastocysts with respect to the blastocyst quality in programmed single vitrified-warmed blastocyst transfer (SVBT). We performed a retrospective study comparing D5/D6 HBs in fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI) for all blastocyst frozen cycles. Patients were <35 years at the oocyte collection in their first fresh cycle without fresh transfer.

This study sought to investigate the association between microRNA-29a (miR-29a) and cardiomyocyte apoptosis in diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM). DCM rat model was established by treating rats with streptozotocin (STZ), followed by injection of NC or miR-29a-3p mimics into the myocardium of rats. Purpose: To detect miR-383-5p and cold-inducible RNA binding protein (CIRBP, CIRP) expression in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and explore the mechanism underlying their effect on apoptosis in ovarian granulosa cells (GCs).

Methods: GCs were extracted from follicular fluid from 101 patients. MiR-383-5p and CIRP expression were assessed by quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction analysis.

Clinical value of metagenomic next-generation sequencing in complicated infectious diseases.

Infectious diseases are commonly seen in clinical practice, and pathogen diagnosis is the key link in diagnosis and treatment; however, conventional pathogen detection methods cannot meet clinical needs due to time-consuming operation and low positive rate. As a new pathogen detection method, metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) has a wide detection range and can detect bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, rare pathogens, and even unknown pathogens. The technique of mNGS is unbiased and can rapidly, efficiently, and accurately obtain all nucleic acid information in test samples, analyze pathogens, and guide clinical diagnosis and treatment, thereby playing an important role in complicated infectious diseases.

Influence of one-day diabetes mellitus clinic management on blood glucose control and prognosis in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus.

Objective: To explore the influence of the one-day diabetes mellitus (DM) clinic management model on blood glucose control and prognosis in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).

Methods: A total of 930 patients diagnosed with GDM by oral glucose tolerance test screening at 24-28 weeks of gestation were selected from those who underwent outpatient prenatal checkups at our hospital and were randomly divided into one-day DM clinic group ( = 509) and control group ( = 421). A one-day DM clinic intervention was conducted in the one-day DM clinic group, and individualized dietary interventions and exercise instruction were given in the control group.

Congenital muscular dystrophy caused by gene mutation: Two case reports.

Background: Mutations in the () gene can lead to impaired glycosylation of α-dystroglycan, which, in turn, causes congenital muscular dystrophy (CMD). The clinical phenotypes of CMD are broad, and there are only a few reports of CMD worldwide.

Case Summary: This report describes the cases of two children with CMD caused by gene mutation.

Clinical Value of FeNO for Pulmonary Hypertension Diagnosis in Patients with Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Objective: To investigate the clinical value of fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) in the diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension (PH) in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD).

Methods: In this study, the medical records of AECOPD patients were retrospectively reviewed. The patients were divided into AECOPD and AECOPD + PH groups based on the absence or presence of PH.

Treatments for pulmonary fibrosis (PF) are ineffective because its molecular pathogenesis and therapeutic targets are unclear. Here, we show that the expression of low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) was significantly decreased in alveolar type II (ATII) and fibroblast cells, whereas it was increased in endothelial cells from systemic sclerosis-related PF (SSc-PF) patients and idiopathic PF (IPF) patients compared with healthy controls. However, the plasma levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) increased in SSc-PF and IPF patients.

Glutamine as a Potential Noninvasive Biomarker for Human Embryo Selection.

To determine whether glutamine consumption is associated with embryo quality and aneuploidy, a retrospective study was conducted in an in vitro fertilization center. Spent embryo culture media from patients undergoing assisted reproduction treatment and preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) were obtained on day 3 of in vitro culture. Embryo quality was assessed for cell number and fragmentation rate.

The application value of metagenomic next-generation sequencing in children with invasive pneumococcal disease.

Background: A retrospective analysis was conducted to explore the sensitivity and specificity of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) in blood, cerebrospinal fluid, and pleural effusion samples in children with invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD), and the impact of detection timing on prognosis and cost.

Methods: Children with IPD admitted to Hebei Children's Hospital from 1 January 2017 to 1 March 2021 were allocated to 1 of 3 groups according to the clinical symptoms and lesions (Group 1: bacteremia; Group 2: meningitis; Group 3: pleurisy). Taking Alere BinaxNow () antigen detection and blood culture as the gold standard, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) was used to establish the diagnostic value of mNGS.

Background: Endometrial cancer (EC) is the second most common malignancy of the female reproductive system worldwide, and the standard treatment for early-stage EC potentially leads to permanent infertility. The objective of this study was to investigate the efficacies of different methods on fertility preservation in patients with early-stage EC.

Methods: We searched the major online databases (PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library, and Web of Science) to collect the research literature on fertility preservation therapy in patients with early-stage well-differentiated EC aged ≤ 40 years from January 1999 to October 2019.

Necrostatin-1 Against Sevoflurane-Induced Cognitive Dysfunction Involves Activation of BDNF/TrkB Pathway and Inhibition of Necroptosis in Aged Rats.

Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) induced by anesthesia or surgery has become a common complication in the aged population. Sevoflurane, a clinical inhalation anesthetic, could stimulate calcium overload and necroptosis to POCD. In addition, necroptosis inhibitor necrostatin-1 (Nec-1) alleviated cognitive impairment caused by multiple causes, including postoperative cognitive impairment.
