Purpose: To investigate the effects of canagliflozin (20 mg/kg) on Dahl salt-sensitive (DSS) rat gut microbiota and salt-sensitive hypertension-induced kidney injury and further explore its possible mechanism.

Methods: Rats were fed a high-salt diet to induce hypertension and kidney injury, and physical and physiological indicators were measured afterwards. This study employed 16S rRNA sequencing technology and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)-based metabolic profiling combined with advanced differential and association analyses to investigate the correlation between the microbiome and the metabolome in male DSS rats.

Construction and validation of a nomogram for predicting cervical lymph node metastasis in diffuse sclerosing variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma.

Objective: To analyze the risk factors associated with the occurrence of cervical lymph node metastasis (LNM) in patients with diffuse sclerosing variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma (DSV-PTC) and to establish a nomogram model.

Methods: Clinical data of 199 DSV-PTC patients from SEER database were obtained, and they were randomly divided into training group (n=139) and validation group (n=60). Objectives: This study assessed the antifibrotic effects of canagliflozin, with or without irbesartan, on renal injury in Dahl salt-sensitive (SS) rats fed a high-salt (HS) diet.

Methods: After the preconditioning stage, Dahl SS rats (n = 47) were divided into five experimental groups as follows: low-salt (LS, n = 7), HS (n = 10), HS with canagliflozin (n = 10), HS with irbesartan (n = 10), and HS with canagliflozin and irbesartan (n = 10).

Results: The HS diet increased systolic blood pressure (SBP), renal fibrosis, fibrotic protein expression, and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1)/Smad2/3 pathway protein expression compared with the findings in the LS group.

Aim: This study aims to explore the evaluation of lactic acid (Lac) and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) on the condition and prognosis of patients with diquat (DQ) poisoning.

Methods: A total of 79 cases of DQ poisoning treated in one hospital from January 2019 through February 2023 were included: 10 cases of mild poisoning, 49 cases of moderate to severe poisoning, and 20 cases of fulminant poisoning. According to the Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes-acute kidney injury (KDIGO-AKI) criteria, the patients were divided into 60 cases in the AKI group and 19 cases in the non-acute kidney injury (NAKI) group.

The cyclin-dependent kinase like 5 (CDKL5) gene variation is X-linked dominant and is associated with type 2 developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE). Although numerous cases of CDKL5 have been reported, there is limited discussion regarding functional verification. We described two children with DEE caused by de novo variations of CDKL5 gene, analyzed their clinical manifestations, and performed genetic testing on their gene variation sites.
