Data reported by Sprecher ( 2014 ) indicate that gender differences in emotional responses to sexual debut should be included among the handful of exceptions to Hyde's ( 2005 ) gender similarities hypothesis, which states that men and women are similar on most but not all psychological variables. While these gender differences have been relatively robust over the three decades of data collection reported by Sprecher ( 2014 ), the evidence of historical change in the magnitude of these gender differences indicates that they are still plastic. The experience of first intercourse has become generally more positive over that time, with more pleasure and less guilt among women and less anxiety among men.

Despite nursing assistants' high risk for cardiovascular disease, few studies have aimed to reduce their cardiovascular disease risk. The purpose of this article is to explore factors that facilitated and hindered nursing assistants' participation in a pilot physical-activity- and diet-focused worksite health promotion program that aimed to reduce cardiovascular disease risk. Three focus groups were conducted with 12 (67%) participants of the program.

This study was designed to assess temporal trends of 2004-2012 toxicity data from three water column tests, one sediment test and concentrations of three pesticides from four Central Valley Water Quality Coalitions in California. Major conclusions based on this extensive toxicity and pesticide data from 150 mainstem and tributary sites showed a significant decline in toxicity over 9 years from Ceriodaphnia dubia water column toxicity tests and a significant decline in toxicity from three water column and one sediment toxicity test combined. The organophosphate insecticides diazinon and chlorpyrifos also showed a significant decline in concentrations from 2004 to 2012 and also a significant decline in the percent of samples that exceeded water quality objectives for both of these insecticides.

The purpose of this study was to assess the extent to which cities, county departments of adult and aging services, county transportation authorities, and public transit agencies in the San Francisco Bay Area have in place age-friendly policies, programs, and infrastructure in the areas of community design, housing, transportation, health care and supportive services, and opportunities for community engagement. The most common age-friendly features include those that target alternative forms of mobility (for example, incentives for mixed-use neighborhoods and changes to improve the accessibility of public transit), while the least common policies and programs are those that aim to help older adults continue driving, such as driver education programs, driver assessment programs, and slow-moving vehicle ordinances. The article concludes with policy and research implications of these findings.

Objective: The research objective is to compare the consistency of distributions between crash assigned (KABCO) and hospital assigned (Abbreviated Injury Scale, AIS) injury severity scoring systems for 2 states. The hypothesis is that AIS scores will be more consistent between the 2 studied states (Maryland and Utah) than KABCO.
Methods: The analysis involved Crash Outcome Data Evaluation System (CODES) data from 2 states, Maryland and Utah, for years 2006-2008.
The expansion of the use of evidence-based practices (EBPs) in mental health services is well under way and social work seeks to further its appropriate implementation in both specialty and nonspecialty mental health settings. The common elements approach is now recognized as demonstrating promise for use in a range of settings. This article discusses the attractiveness of the common elements approach and describes several efforts to integrate its content into social work education and to disseminate this approach into the field.

Over the last decade and a half, latent growth modeling has become an extremely popular and versatile technique for evaluating longitudinal change and its determinants. Most common among the models applied are those for a single measured variable over time. This model has been extended in a variety of ways, most relevant for the current work being the multidomain and the second-order latent growth models.

Abstract We argue that Graziano and Kastner are mistaken to claim that neglect favors their self-directed social perception account of consciousness. For the latter should not predict that neglect would result from damage to mechanisms of social perception. Neglect is better explained in terms of damage to attentional mechanisms.

The pros and cons of population screening for thyroid disease have been hotly debated over the past several decades. This article addresses the issue from the point of view of the potential benefit of screening, that is, disease detection. Earlier diagnoses of hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer and so on, with implementation of the indicated diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, avoid the adverse consequences of unrecognized and untreated progressive disease.
