Objectives: Well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (NET) are highly vascular tumors characterized by their expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). This trial investigated the activity of ramucirumab, a monoclonal antibody that targets VEGF receptor-2 (VEGFR-2) and inhibits activity of VEGF, in combination with somatostatin analog therapy in patients (pts) with advanced extra-pancreatic NET.

Methods: We conducted a single-arm phase II trial enrolling pts with advanced, progressive extra-pancreatic NET.

Consistent direction despite wavering policy: reductions in resident physician extended duration shifts over 20 years.

We examined data from 17,498 physicians-in-training who reported on 92,662 months of work over a 20 year study interval that included three major revisions to work hour limits. Extended duration shifts (≥24 hours; EDS) are much less common than they used to be. On average, first-year resident physicians (PGY1s) currently work a total of 4 EDS per year and 3 EDS per month during months in which any EDS are worked.

Several real-world data analyses from observational stroke cohorts have established relationships between this parameter and a range of favorable and unfavorable stroke outcomes. In this review, an overview is provided of the CBV index, within the context of thrombectomy-treated large vessel and medium vessel occlusion ischemic strokes.

Background: Ostomy education and support is instrumental in surgical recovery and adaptation. We aimed to evaluate 1) challenges faced by fecal ostomy patients with colorectal cancer and 2) resources necessary for recovery.

Methods: We recruited patients 21-90 days after scheduled fecal ostomy surgery for locally advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer from a single, tertiary academic center.

Purpose: Clonal hematopoiesis (CH) has been associated with a variety of adverse outcomes, most notably hematologic malignancy and ischemic cardiovascular disease. LHNs provide an ideal environment for the rapid adoption of evidence-based guidelines and translation of research and best practices at scale. When an LHN is established, it is critical to understand the needs of all stakeholders.

Rationale & Objective: Nearly half of kidney transplant recipients develop allograft failure within 10 years of transplantation and experience high mortality, significant symptom burden, and complex communication challenges. These patients may benefit from palliative care, but palliative care is infrequently provided in this population. This study explores palliative care perceptions and needs among patients with poorly functioning and declining kidney allografts.

Few studies have examined outcomes for Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) for cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) in Black versus White patients. We compared time to surgery and defect sizes after MMS between Black versus White patients with cSCC. Patients with biopsy-proven cSCC treated with MMS at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania were identified from a prospectively maintained database (2006-2023).

Patients And Methods: The maximum tolerated dose (MTD) of adavosertib was determined in adult patients with newly diagnosed GBM using a standard 3+3 design in 2 separate cohorts: with concurrent RT/TMZ or with adjuvant TMZ.
