In a recent study we reported that tissue-associated microbial Co-abundance Groups (CAGs) were differentially associated with colorectal cancer (CRC). Two of the CAGs, which we named Pathogen CAG and Prevotella CAG, were correlated with a gene expression signature indicative of a TH17 response. A TH17 response has been associated with decreased survival in patients with CRC, and members of the Pathogen CAG such as Fusobacterium nucleatum, Escherichia coli and Bacteroides fragilis have been repeatedly reported to be associated with CRC-development.

Early life is a period of significant brain development when the brain is at its most plastic and vulnerable. Stressful episodes during this window of development have long-lasting effects on the central nervous system. Rodent maternal separation (MS) is a reliable model of early-life stress and induces alterations in both physiology and behaviour.

The Gram positive intracellular pathogen Listeria monocytogenes represents a promising vaccine or therapeutic DNA delivery vector that has been successfully administered to humans in clinical trials. However in generating Listeria mutants with therapeutic potential it is important to balance safety attenuation with efficacy. Here we show that L.
