To compare the predictive effects of stone size and volume on the efficacy and safety of retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) and to determine the cutoff values of stone volume for prediction of RIRS efficacy and safety. Patients who underwent RIRS between 2017 and 2021 in six referral centers were retrospectively included in the study. The database of the RIRsearch group, which was formed prospectively, was used for this retrospective analysis.

Breast-conserving surgery (BCS) followed by radiotherapy is preferred for early-stage breast cancer because its survival rate is equivalent to that of mastectomy. Achieving negative surgical margins in BCS is crucial to minimize the risk of recurrence. Intraoperative ultrasound (IOUS) enhances surgical accuracy, but its efficacy is operator dependent.

Although parathyroid fine-needle aspiration (P-FNA) with parathyroid hormone (PTH) washout is effective in detecting preoperative parathyroid lesions, it also presents risks such as fibrosis, hematoma, and, in rare cases, tumor seeding. This study aimed to investigate whether P-FNA with PTH washout leads to the seeding of parathyroid cells along the path of the needle. A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients undergoing minimally invasive parathyroidectomy guided by preoperative PTH washout.

Background: Primary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT) caused by a single benign parathyroid adenoma is a common endocrine disorder that is affected by regional differences. Living in different geographical regions reveals differences in the laboratory results and pathological findings, but studies on this subject are not sufficient. The article focuses on biochemical and pathological effects of geographical differences in parathyroid adenoma.

Although several studies have documented perioperative and postoperative complications related to RIRS, there exists limited data regarding the readmission and rehospitalization of patients after RIRS. The aims of the study were to document the rates of readmission and rehospitalization after RIRS and to determine the predictive factors for readmission and rehospitalization.

The disease course of children with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) seems milder as compared with adults, however, actual reason of the pathogenesis still remains unclear. There is a growing interest on possible relationship between pathogenicity or disease severity and biomarkers including cytokines or chemokines. We wondered whether these biomarkers could be used for the prediction of the prognosis of COVID-19 and improving our understanding on the variations between pediatric and adult cases with COVID-19.
