Mitochondria are pivotal in cellular energy metabolism and have garnered significant attention for their roles in cancer progression and therapy resistance. Despite this, the functional diversity of mitochondria across various cancer types remains inadequately characterized. This study seeks to fill this knowledge gap by introducing and validating MitoScore-a novel metric designed to quantitatively assess mitochondrial function across a wide array of cancers.

Construction and validation of a prediction model for acute ischemic stroke patients with concomitant deep vein thrombosis.

The data of AIS patients in our hospital were collected from January 2021 to December 2023, and single-factor and multifactorial logistic regression analyses were used to determine the independent risk factors for the complication of DVT in patients with AIS and to establish the corresponding nomogram. The receiver operating characteristic curves were plotted the area under the curve was calculated, and the calibration and decision curves were plotted to evaluate the model performance.

Intercostal hemangiomas coexisting with multiple hepatic hemangiomas: Clinical and imaging findings in a single case report with a review of the literature.

Rationale: Intercostal hemangioma (IH) is an extremely rare disease, with only 18 cases reported in the past 30 years. Herein, we report the first case of IH coexisting with multiple hepatic hemangiomas, which recurred 32 months after surgery with rib erosion. IHs are invasive and difficult to distinguish from other intercostal tumors on imaging.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has the distinct advantage of multifaceted and multilevel therapeutic attributes that show efficacy in improving clinical symptoms, reducing proteinuria, protecting renal function, and slowing DKD progression. Over recent decades, extensive research has explored the mechanisms of TCM for preventing and managing DKD, with substantial studies that endorse the therapeutic benefits of TCM compounds and single agents in the medical intervention of DKD.

Correlation between Spectral CT Parameters and Ki67 Expression in Hepatocellular Carcinoma.

Objective: The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between quantitative parameters of spectral CT and the Ki67 expression index of tumor cells in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: A total of 19 patients who underwent preoperative spectral CT dual-phase enhancement and who were diagnosed with HCC by postoperative pathology were prospectively selected. Patients with ≥10% Ki67-positive tumor cells formed a high-Ki67 group, and those with <10% Ki67- positive cells formed a low-Ki67 group.

The treatment principles recommended by the current management guidelines include general drug treatment, support measures and prevention of sequelae, among which the therapeutic drugs include corticosteroids, immunosuppressive agents and angiotensin system inhibitors. However, the concentration range of immunosuppressive therapy is narrow and the individualized difference is large, and the use of corticosteroids does not seem to improve the persistent nephropathy and prognosis of children with IgAV.
