Background: Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with Hyperthermic Intra-peritoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) has become a successful, potentially curative, treatment option for peritoneal surface malignancies (PSM). CRS and HIPEC (CRS/HIPEC) are performed with curative intent for several intra-peritoneal pathologies. An increasing number of patients with PSM are diagnosed at a relatively young age.

: Post-hemithyroidectomy hypothyroidism is a recognized complication, though its incidence and risk factors remain variably reported. This study aimed to determine the incidence of hypothyroidism post-hemithyroidectomy, identify associated risk factors, and assess temporal changes in thyroid hormone levels. : This retrospective analysis examined the records of 192 euthyroid patients who underwent hemithyroidectomy between January 2019 and May 2023.

This report presents a healthy 2.5-year-old child exhibiting headache, ptosis, exotropia, and left mydriasis. Initial neuroimaging, including computed tomography (CT), computed tomography angiography (CTA), and standardized magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), failed to identify any lesions; however, high-resolution MRI revealed an ovoid mass adjacent to the left proximal oculomotor nerve within the superior cavernous sinus.

Background: Non-infectious epiglottitis, an infrequent but significant condition, presents challenges in airway management and treatment due to its potential for rapid progression.
Objective: To analyze differences in clinicodemographic characteristics, management strategies, and clinical outcomes between pediatric and adult cases of non-infectious epiglottitis.
Methods: A systematic search of four databases identified 57 patient records, all diagnosed with non-infectious epiglottitis.

Background: Coronary artery calcium, a marker of coronary atherosclerosis, is often identified on noncoronary chest computed tomography (CT). We wanted to evaluate the correlation between the presence of coronary plaques in coronary artery catheterization and coronary calcifications as shown in noncardiac chest CT.
Methods: A retrospective case-control study consisting of cases (N = 63) and controls (N = 29), aged 18-70 years old, residing in northern Israel and treated in the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit of Ziv Medical Center, between January 2020 and November 2022.

Atherosclerosis is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide; in Israel, ischemic heart disease is the second leading cause of death for both genders aged 45 and above. Atherosclerosis involves stiffening of the arteries due to the accumulation of lipids and oxidized lipids on the blood vessel walls, triggering the development of artery plaque. Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the most common manifestation of atherosclerosis.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) surgery has evolved toward minimally invasive techniques. Laparoscopic sacrohysteropexy (LSHP) is associated with reduced morbidity and lower mesh exposure risks. This study evaluates the long-term outcomes of LSHP using the SERATEX SlimSling mesh for isolated uterine prolapse.

Introduction: Parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) face heightened challenges during crises like war, leading to parental burnout (PB). Wartime demands may exacerbate the children's behavioral difficulties, which associated with PB. Successful emotional regulation (ER) is considered a protective factor for PB.

Real-world studies complement clinical trials, since patterns of patient selection, treatment-exposure and post-remission management may vary. This prospective observational multi-center study included 209 newly diagnosed IC-ineligible patients with a median age 75 years (interquartile range, 71-81 years).

Introduction: Placental-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) are nano-organelles that facilitate intercellular communication between the feto-placental unit and the mother. We evaluated a novel Multiple Microarray analyzer for identifying surface markers on plasma EVs that predict preterm delivery and preeclampsia compared to term delivery controls.
Material And Methods: In this prospective exploratory cohort study pregnant women between 24 and 40 gestational weeks with preterm delivery (n = 16), preeclampsia (n = 19), and matched term delivery controls (n = 15) were recruited from Bnai Zion Medical Center, Haifa, Israel.

In recent years, pathogenic variants in ARS genes, encoding aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases (aaRSs), have been associated with human disease. Patients harbouring pathogenic variants in ARS genes have clinical signs partly unique to certain aaRSs defects, partly overlapping between the different aaRSs defects. Diagnosis relies mostly on genetics and remains challenging, often requiring functional validation of new ARS variants.

Deciphering the spectrum and founder disease-causing variants (DCVs) in specific populations can shape and facilitate the diagnostic process of Lynch Syndrome (LS). The aim of this report was to comprehensively update on the genetic landscape of LS in the ethnically diverse Israeli-Jewish population. The cohort included 1080 carriers from 588 families; some from underrepresented, understudied Israeli ethnic groups recruited from 8 genetic institutes and high-risk clinics throughout the country.

The microbiome has been linked to numerous neurological and psychiatric diseases, including schizophrenia. Nevertheless, correlating microbial perturbations to pathophysiological aspects of schizophrenia remains elusive, as study participants are typically medicated when sampled, complicating mechanistic investigation. Here we explored specific microbial and metabolic alterations in schizophrenia patients, while explicitly considering their medications.

The removal of foreign bodies (FBs) from the airways of children is a critical procedure that can avert serious complications. While both flexible and rigid bronchoscopy techniques are employed for this purpose, their comparative efficacy and safety remain subjects of debate. Therefore, we conducted this investigation to compare between both procedures.
