Diagnosis of Extraosseous Lesions Overlapping the Bones on Bone Scintigraphy.

Clin Nucl Med

November 2024

Department of Nuclear Medicine, Zigong First People's Hospital, Zigong Academy of Medical Sciences, Zigong, Sichuan, China.

Extraosseous MDP uptake was not uncommon on the bone scintigraphy. When the extraosseous activity is overlapping the bones, it might cause difficulty in interpreting the result when only static images were acquired. Here we report 2 cases that abnormal MDP activity overlapping the bones on planar images, which were confirmed as soft tissue lesions by SPECT/CT or CT imaging.

Background: To explore the mechanism of compound Hongginshen decoction in improving pulmonary fibrosis based on network pharmacology.

Methods: The active components and targets of ginseng and Salvia miltiorrhiza were screened from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform (TCMSP) database. The chemical components of Rhodiola, Ophiopogon japonicus, and Dendrobium were screened using the Traditional Chinese Medicine Integrated Database (TCMID), and the target compounds were predicted by the Swisstargets method.

Objective: To compare the effectiveness of improved and traditional Kirschner wire tension band fixation in treatment of type C patellar fractures.

Methods: Between January 2017 and January 2019, 26 patients with type C patellar fractures were treated with improved Kirschner wire tension band fixation (group A), and 24 patients were treated with traditional Kirschner wire tension band fixation (group B). There was no significant difference in gender, age, injury cause, disease duration, and side and type of fracture between 2 groups ( >0.

Background: Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) and cervical disc arthroplasty (CDA) are both the effective techniques in treatment of cervical spondylosis. The purpose of this present retrospective cohort research was to assess the efficacy and safety of ACDF and CDA in treating the symptomatic cervical spondylosis over the 6-year follow-up.

Methods: From our registry database, we identified retrospectively patients who received CDA or ACDF in our academic institutions from 2012 to 2015.

Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) have been widely regarded as an important inducing factor in the pathogenesis of diabetic arteriosclerosis, and the proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) are also involved in this process. However, it is not clear whether AGEs promote atherosclerosis by inducing the proliferation and migration of VSMCs. To figure out this question, this study investigated the effects of AGEs on the proliferation and migration of human aorta vascular smooth muscle cells (HASMCs) and the underlying mechanisms.

Institute of Tissue Engineering and Stem Cells, Nanchong Central Hospital, The Second Clinical Medical College, North Sichuan Medical College, Nanchong, Sichuan, 637000, People's Republic of China.

Intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration (IDD) is the main cause of low back pain in the clinic. In the advanced stage of IDD, both cell transplantation and gene therapy have obvious limitations. At this stage, tissue-engineered IVDs (TE-IVDs) provide new hope for the treatment of this disease.

Both induction chemotherapy (IC) followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT; IC+CCRT) and CCRT plus adjuvant chemotherapy (AC; CCRT+AC) are standard treatments for advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). However, no prospective randomized trials comparing these two approaches have been published yet. We conducted this network meta-analysis to address this clinical question.

Objective: To construct a novel non-viral vector loaded with growth and differentiation factor-5 (GDF-5) plasmid using chitosan, hyaluronic acid, and chondroitin sulfate for osteoarthritis (OA) gene therapy.

Methods: Nano-microspheres (NMPs) were prepared by mixing chitosan, hyaluronic acid, and chondroitin sulfate. GDF-5 plasmid was encapsulated in the NMPs through electrostatic adsorption.

Background: The indication of retroperitoneal laparoscopic adrenalectomy (RLA) was extended with the retroperitoneal approach and has been wildly accepted and technologically matured. However, the management of large adrenal tumors via this approach still remains controversial. The aim of this study was to perform a comprehensive analysis on the minimally invasive surgical management of larger adrenal tumors.

: This network meta-analysis aimed at comparing anti-programmed death 1 (anti-PD-1) with anti-programmed death ligand 1(anti-PD-L1) immunotherapy in patients with metastatic, previously treated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who failed first-line treatment. : We searched electronic databases to identify all eligible clinical trials. End-points included overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS) and objective response.

Approach to the patient with pregnancy and lactation-associated osteoporosis: A case report and a review of the literature.

Medicine (Baltimore)

November 2017

aDepartment of Eldly Endocrinology, Sichuan Academy of Medical Sciences & Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital bDepartment of Endocrinology, Zigong No. 4 People's Hospital, Sichuan, China.

Rationale: Pregnancy and lactation-associated osteoporosis (PLO) is very rare, but it can cause severe vertebral compression fractures with disabling back pain. Although it is a rare, PLO must be kept in mind in the differential diagnosis in patients presenting with low back pain during or after pregnancy.

Patient Concerns: A 23-year-old woman who suffered from lumbago and fractures in the vertebral column 1 month after delivery.

Purpose: Most nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients present with locoregionally advanced disease at the time of diagnosis; however, there is a lack of consensus on specific prognostic factors potentially improving overall survival, especially in late-stage disease. Herein, we conducted a retrospective study to evaluate various potential prognostic factors in order to provide useful information for clinical treatment of T3/T4-stage NPC.

Patients And Methods: A total of 189 previously untreated NPC patients were enrolled in the current study.

Activation of UPR Signaling Pathway is Associated With the Malignant Progression and Poor Prognosis in Prostate Cancer.

Prostate

February 2017

Department of Health Statistics and Information Management, School of Public Health and Management, Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, China.

Background: Currently, the role of UPR signaling in prostate cancer (PCa) is unclear. To evaluate the relationship between UPR signaling pathway and the prognosis of PCa, we explored the expression of IRE1, PERK, and ATF6 in tissues.

Methods: A total of 160 PCa and 30 benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) tissues were collected.
