Glioma, a prevalent primary tumor of the central nervous system, is targeted by molecular therapies aiming to intervene in specific genes and signaling pathways to inhibit tumor growth and spread. Our previous bioinformatics study revealed that significant CDC6 overexpression in gliomas was closely correlated with poor patient prognosis. Through qPCR, western blotting, and immunohistochemistry, we will further validate CDC6 expression in clinical glioma specimens, while the effects of silencing and overexpressing CDC6 in the U87 and LN229 glioma cell lines on malignancy will be assessed through MTS, EdU, transwell, and migration assays.

In recent years, the role of circular RNAs (circRNAs) in glioma has become increasingly important. However, there are still many newly discovered circRNAs with unknown functions that require further study. In this study, circRNA sequencing, qPCR, MTS, EdU, Transwell, and other assays were conducted to detect the expression and malignant effects of a novel circRNA molecule, circGRIK2, in glioma.

Recent studies have verified that circRNAs (circular RNAs) play a critical role in glioma occurrence and malignant progression. However, numerous circRNAs with unknown functions remain to be explored with further research. qPCR (quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction) was employed to detect circTIE1 expression in glioma tissues, NHAs (normal human astrocytes), and glioma cellular lines (U87, U118, U251, T98G, LN229).

Objective: To investigate the clinical and prognostic significance of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) CRNDE expression in severe pneumonia and its correlation with the levels of inflammatory factors.

Methods: In this retrospective study, 86 patients with severe pneumonia were selected as the observation group (OG), and 70 patients with non-severe pneumonia were selected as the control group (CG). The expression of lncRNA CRNDE was measured by real-time fluorescence quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction.

Objective: To investigate the effects of laparoscopic radical surgery on the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC) and explore the correlations of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) with prognosis.

Methods: The clinical data of 210 patients with CRC admitted to the Yantai Zhifu Hospital from February 2015 to February 2018 were analyzed retrospectively. Among them, 110 patients were treated with laparoscopic radical surgery and assigned to the observation group, and the rest 100 patients were treated with routine open surgery and included in the open group.

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a disease commonly diagnosed in the elderly population. It is reported that the reduction of extracellular matrix and infiltrated inflammation are two main factors responsible for the pathogenesis of OA. This investigation aims to explore the potential protective effects of Febuxostat against IL-18-induced insults in chondrocytes, as well as the possible mechanism.

MicroRNA-96 regulates RGC-5 cell growth through caspase-dependent apoptosis.

Int J Clin Exp Med

November 2014

Department of Ophthalmology, Zibo Central Hospital Zibo 255036, Shandong Providence, China.

Purpose: This study is to investigate functional role of microRNA 96 (miR-96) in regulating cell survival and caspase-dependent apoptosis in rat retinal ganglion cell line RGC-5 cells.

Method: RGC-5 cells were cultured in vitro. Lentiviral vectors of miR-96 inhibitor, miR-96 mimics and non-specific miRNA were applied.
