Carbapenems are the last-resort antibiotics used to treat infections caused by bacterial pathogens. Many bacterial pathogens have evolved to produce NDM carbapenemases to hydrolyze carbapenems, posing a great challenge to public health. In this study, we report a multidrug resistant clinical strain 673.

State Key Laboratory of Biocatalysis and Enzyme Engineering, Environmental Microbial Technology Center of Hubei Province, College of Life Sciences, Hubei University, Wuhan, 430062, China.

Owing to the feature of strong α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, 1-deoxynojirimycin (1-DNJ) has broad application prospects in areas of functional food, biomedicine, etc., and this research wants to construct an efficient strain for 1-DNJ production, basing on HZ-12. Firstly, using the temperature-sensitive shuttle plasmid T2 (2)-Ori, gene in phosphotransferase system (PTS) was weakened by homologous recombination, and non-PTS pathway was strengthened by deleting its repressor gene , and 1-DNJ yield of resultant strain HZ-S2 was increased by 4.

November 2023

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Gastroenterology, Department of Gastroenterology, Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, China.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated a new disposable esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) system aimed at preventing cross-infection in medical settings, testing its feasibility and safety in 30 patients during emergencies and surgeries.
  • All procedures using the disposable EGD were successful, with a 100% technical success rate, and no device malfunctions or adverse events reported.
  • The results suggest that the disposable EGD is a safe and effective alternative to traditional EGDs, demonstrating good image quality and efficient procedure times in critical situations.

Background: Models predicting future macrovascular invasion in hepatocellular carcinoma are constructed to assist timely interventions.

Methods: A total of 366 HCC cases were retrospectively collected from five Chinese hospitals between April 2007 and November 2016: the training dataset comprised 281 patients from four hospitals; the external validation dataset comprised 85 patients from another hospital. Multi-task deep learning network-based models were constructed to predict future macrovascular invasion.
