Concentrated electrolytes based on lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (LiFSI) have been proposed as an effective Li-compatible electrolyte for anode-free lithium metal batteries (AFLMBs). However, these electrolytes suffer from severe aluminum corrosion at an elevated potential. To address this issue, we propose a binary ionic liquid (IL) electrolyte additive comprising the 1-methyl-1-butyl pyrrolidinium cation (Pyr), difluoro(oxalate)borate anion (DFOB), and difluorophosphate (POF) anion to mitigate the Li inventory loss and Al corrosion in 4 M LiFSI/DME electrolyte simultaneously.

A macrocyclic compound, hemicucurbit[6]uril (HemiQ[6]), is employed as the carbon source to produce a novel sort of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) with blue fluorescence in aqueous solution. The CQDs are fully identified by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), zeta potential, ultraviolet/visible (UV-vis) and photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL). In this study, Co/Ni-NC catalyst with hetero-diatomic Co/Ni active sites dispersed on nitrogen-doped carbon matrix is synthesized via the controlled pyrolysis of ZIF-8 containing Co and Ni compounds. Experimental characterizations and theoretical calculations reveal that Co and Ni are atomically and uniformly dispersed in pairs of CoN-NiN with an intersite distance ≈0.41 nm, and there is long-range d-d coupling between Co and Ni with more electron delocalization for higher bifunctional activity.

The crystal structures, stability, mechanical properties and electronic structures of Nb-free and Nb-doped Ti-Al intermetallic compounds were investigated via first-principles calculations. Seven components and eleven crystal configurations were considered based on the phase diagram. The calculated results demonstrate that hP8-TiAl, tP4-TiAl, tP32-TiAl, tI24-TiAl, tI16-TiAl, tI24-TiAl, and tI32-TiAl are the most stable phases.

Monitoring non-contact high-frequency vibrations requires improving the sensitivity and linear response of iontronic pressure sensors (IPSs). The supramolecular strategy was subjected to the asymmetric hydrogenation of 4-methylumbelliferone by electrochemical reduction in the presence of a chiral macrocyclic multifarane[3,3], which offered a l-7-hydroxy-4-methylchroman-2-one product with a chemical yield of 65% and enantioselectivity up to >99% ee. The high stability of the developed chiral supramolecular electrode guaranteed the recyclability and repeatability in the electrolysis, and therefore, the application was extended to more coumarin derivatives to provide satisfactory chemical yields and enantioselectivities.

Supercapacitors are essential for electrochemical energy storage because of their high-power density, good cycle stability, fast charging and discharging rates, and low maintenance cost. Macrocycles, including cucurbiturils, calixarene, and cyclodextrins, are cage-like organic compounds (with a nanocavity that contains O and N heteroatoms) with unique potential in supercapacitors.
