Background: Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a complex vascular disorder characterized by the progressive dilation of the abdominal aorta, with a high risk of rupture and mortality. Understanding the cellular interactions and molecular mechanisms underlying AAA development is critical for identifying potential therapeutic targets.
Methods: This study utilized datasets GSE197748, GSE164678 and GSE183464 from the GEO database, encompassing bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing data from AAA and control samples.

Objective: can cause a series of infections including otitis media (OM), and the oxacillin-resistant has become a serious health concern. This study aimed to investigate the genomic characteristics of two strains of oxacillin-resistant and -positive isolated from the samples of ear swabs from patients with OM and explore their acquired antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and the mobile genetic elements (MGEs).
Methods: Two oxacillin-resistant strains, isolated from ear swab samples of patients with OM, underwent antimicrobial susceptibility evaluation, followed by whole-genome sequencing.

Background And Aims: The transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt has controversial survival benefits; thus, patient screening should be performed preoperatively. In this study, we aimed to develop a model to predict post-transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt mortality to aid clinical decision making.
Methods: A total of 811 patients undergoing transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt from five hospitals were divided into the training and external validation data sets.

Background: Cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM) and obesity represent two major health problems. The relationship between adiposity indices and CMM, however, remains understudied. This study aimed to investigate the associations of body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), a body shape index (ABSI), body roundness index (BRI), and conicity index (CI) with CMM among Chinese adults.

The activation of the cGAS-STING pathway is associated with many sterile inflammatory and inflammatory conditions, including acute kidney injury. As a cytoplasmic DNA sensor, sensitization of the cGAS-STING pathway can ignite the innate immune response in vivo and trigger a series of biological effects. In recent years, there is increasing evidence showing that the cGAS-STING pathway plays a vital role in acute kidney injury, a non-inflammatory disease induced by activation of innate immune cells, and closely related to intracellular reactive oxygen species, mitochondrial DNA, and the cGAS-STING pathway.

Background: Easy-to-use bedside risk assessment is crucial for patients with COVID-19 in the overcrowded emergency department (ED).
Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the prognostic ability of ratio of percutaneous oxygen saturation (SpO) to fraction of inspired oxygen (FiO) (S/F); ratio of SpO/FiO to respiratory rate (ROX); National Early Warning Score (NEWS); quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA); and confusion, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and age ≥ 65 years (CRB-65) in patients with COVID-19 presenting with dyspnea to the ED.
Methods: In this retrospective observational study, clinical and demographic details of patients with COVID-19 were obtained at ED admission.

Insufficiency of the small saphenous vein causes 15% of varicose veins in the lower extremities. Endovenous ablation for the treatment of small saphenous vein varices has become a trend, and an increasing number of studies have reported the effects of different types of endovenous ablation in patients with small saphenous varicose veins. The purpose of this systematic review is to summarize the results of existing studies on endovenous ablation for the treatment of small saphenous varicose veins, compare its role and efficacy, and provide insights into the future development of endovenous ablation for treating small saphenous varicose veins.

Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a type of digestive system disease with high mortality. Previous studies have shown that gut microbiota can participate in developing and treating acute pancreatitis by affecting the host's metabolism. In this study, we followed 20 AP patients to generate longitudinal gut microbiota profiles and activity during disease (before treatment, on the third day of treatment, and 1 month after discharge).

Background: Overt hepatic encephalopathy (HE) should be predicted preoperatively to identify suitable candidates for transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) instead of first-line treatment. This study aimed to construct a 3D assessment-based model to predict post-TIPS overt HE.
Methods: In this multi-center cohort study, 487 patients who underwent TIPS were subdivided into a training dataset (390 cases from three hospitals) and an external validation dataset (97 cases from another two hospitals).

Objective: Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors therapies were reported to affect adipose tissue distribution. However, the available evidence about the effect of SGLT-2 inhibitor on adipose tissue is contradictory. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to evaluate the effect of SGLT-2 inhibitors on adipose tissue distribution in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a common autoimmunity disease of the central nervous system (CNS) that mostly happens in young adults. The chronic clinical features of MS include inflammatory demyelination, infiltration of immune cells, and secretion of inflammatory cytokines, which have been proved to be associated with CD4 T cells. Ferroptosis is a newly discovered programmed cell death mediated by the massive lipid peroxidation and more sensitive to CD4 T cells.
