Electronic address:

RNA 5-methylcytosine (m5C) methylation involves the addition of a methyl (-CH3) group to the cytosine (C) base within an RNA molecule, forming the m5C modification. m5C plays a role in numerous essential biological processes, including the regulation of RNA stability, nuclear export, and protein translation. Recent studies have highlighted the importance of m5C in the pathogenesis of various diseases, particularly tumors.

Introduction: Lung-protective ventilation strategies (LPVS) for one-lung ventilation (OLV) in paediatric patients pose greater challenges than in adults. Optimising LPVS for paediatric OLV to mitigate postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) has emerged as a current research focal point. However, there remains a divergence of opinions concerning the individualised setting and application of positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP).

Microbiology and Immunology Department, Faculty of Medical Science, School of Medicine, Jinan University, Rm 207, LiangzhongJing Buld, Guangzhou, Guangdong 510632, China.

In the era of personalized cancer treatment, understanding the complexities of tumor biology and immune modulation is paramount. This comprehensive analysis delves into the multifaceted role of zinc finger protein 207 (ZNF207) in pan-cancer, shedding light on its involvement in tumorigenesis, immune evasion, and therapeutic implications. Through integrated genomic and clinical data analysis, we reveal consistent upregulation of ZNF207 across diverse cancer types, highlighting its potential as a prognostic marker and therapeutic target, particularly for liver cancers.

Background: Although the popliteal vein approach is commonly used for catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) treatment in patients with acute lower extremity deep vein thrombosis (DVT), CDT via a new access route, the posterior tibial vein, is also used and has demonstrated good results. However, this tibial approach has not been tested in large samples. In this article, we compare the early efficacy of CDT using the tibial and popliteal vein approaches for the treatment of acute mixed lower extremity DVT.

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Tumor Interventional Diagnosis and Treatment, Zhuhai Institute of Translational Medicine, Zhuhai Clinical Medical College of Jinan University (Zhuhai People's Hospital), Zhuhai, 519000, Guangdong, China.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is among the most common malignancies worldwide and is characterized by high rates of morbidity and mortality, posing a serious threat to human health. Interventional embolization therapy is the main treatment against middle- and late-stage liver cancer, but its efficacy is limited by the performance of embolism, hence the new embolic materials have provided hope to the inoperable patients. Especially, hydrogel materials with high embolization strength, appropriate viscosity, reliable security and multifunctionality are widely used as embolic materials, and can improve the efficacy of interventional therapy.

July 2024

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Tumour Interventional Diagnosis and Treatment, Zhuhai Institute of Translational Medicine, Zhuhai Clinical Medical College of Jinan University (Zhuhai People's Hospital), Jinan University, Zhuhai, Guangdong, China.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection playsa significant role in the etiology and progression of liver-relatedpathologies, encompassing chronic hepatitis, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and eventual hepatocellularcarcinoma (HCC). Notably, HBV infection stands as the primary etiologicalfactor driving the development of HCC. Given the significant contribution ofHBV infection to liver diseases, a comprehensive understanding of immunedynamics in the liver microenvironment, spanning chronic HBV infection, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and HCC, is essential.

Article Synopsis
  • A study aimed to enhance predictive accuracy for overt hepatic encephalopathy (HE) risks in patients undergoing transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) by assessing changes in hepatic-associated vascular morphology.
  • The research involved 621 patients across multiple centers, creating predictive models that compared traditional clinical factors with vascular changes, ultimately finding that a combined model outperformed others in accuracy.
  • The findings indicate that evaluating vascular morphology can significantly improve predictions of HE risks, thus ensuring more patients have access to potentially curative TIPS rather than just palliative treatments.
