In this study, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics were utilized to analyze cells from neonatal mouse hearts, resulting in a comprehensive atlas delineating the transcriptional profiles of distinct CM subsets. A continuum of maturation states was elucidated, emphasizing a progressive developmental trajectory rather than discrete stages.

Aim: This study aims to compare the efficacy of modified single-incision surgery with that of traditional modified Ravitch surgery for the repair of pectus excavatum in pediatric patients.
Methods: In this retrospective study, we included patients who underwent surgical correction for sternal depression from January 2015 to December 2020 across four major medical centers. Patients were categorized into two specific groups on the basis of the surgical technique employed: the modified single-incision surgery group, which comprised patients treated using the novel single-incision approach, and the traditional modified Ravitch surgery group, which included patients who received the conventional Ravitch surgery with multiple incisions.

Introduction: Previous observational studies have indicated an association between social isolation and an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases such as angina, but various factors may confound these studies. This study employs Mendelian randomization to investigate the causal relationship between social isolation and angina, minimizing potential confounding effects.
Methods: We conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization analysis using genetic variants as instrumental variables for social isolation.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a common histologic lung cancer with high morbidity and mortality, and most patients have distant metastases at diagnosis. RasGEF Domain Family Member 1C (RASGEF1C) could regulated Alzheimer's disease. However, its function in various cancers, including LUAD, is poorly understood.

A novel electrochemiluminescence (ECL) biosensor was developed for the ultrasensitive detection of miRNA-155, based on the synergistic combination of multifunctional nanomaterials. The biosensor employed a conductive metal-organic framework (MOF), Ni(HAB) (HAB = hexaaminobenzene), as the substrate material. The unique π-electron conjugated structure of Ni(HAB) endowed the biosensor with excellent electron transport properties, significantly enhancing its sensitivity.

Background: Coronary heart disease (CHD) represents a significant global health concern, arising from an intricate interplay between genetic predisposition and environmental influences, with a pivotal involvement of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) in the pathophysiology of it. We aimed to elucidate the synergistic dynamics of B cell activating transcription factor (BATF) and Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) in cell injury caused by ox-LDL, reveal potential therapeutic strategies for CHD.
Methods: The GSE42148 dataset was used to analyze Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) to construct a gene co-expression network.

Introduction: Depression is a common psychiatric problem in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients. Recent studies have begun to explore the relationship between body composition and depression. Phase angle (PhA), a core parameter for assessing body composition, has been observed to be associated with frailty and cognitive dysfunction.

Background: Higher β2-Microglobulin (β2-MG) is associated with aging, stroke and cognitive impairment, which are all connected with poor physical fitness. Poor physical function is ascribed to increasing mortality. However, there has been an academic dispute over the association of serum β2-MG with survival rate.

Objective: Hypervirulent and carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (hv-CRKP) poses a serious threat to public health. Here, we analyse a case of systemic infection caused by a hv-CRKP, which ultimately led to the patient's death from sepsis. And a total of 30 CRKPs were analyzed to elucidate the molecular epidemiological features of CRKPs in the hospital, and to provide a basis for clinical anti-infective therapy.

The intestinal mucus layer plays a crucial role in the systemic absorption of drugs. While penetration through this layer traditionally constitutes a pivotal phase in drug absorption, the approach for treating ulcerative colitis (UC) shifts towards facilitating the direct delivery of drugs to the colon. In this study, we engineered a chitosan-modified microemulsion encapsulated nobiletin (NOB-CS-ME) characterized by small particle dimensions and positive charge specifically, designed to enable targeted delivery.

Doxorubicin (DOX) is a principal chemotherapeutic agent in the domain of oncological intervention. However, its clinical application is constrained due to its severe and irreversible side effects, particularly heart damage. Ferroptosis, characterized by iron accumulation and redox system imbalance, serves a key role in DOX‑induced cardiotoxicity.

In the field of chronobiology, mice serve as valuable model animals for studying mammalian circadian rhythms due to their genetic similarity to humans and the availability of various genetic tools for manipulation. Monitoring locomotor activity in mice provides valuable insights into the impact of various conditions or disturbances on circadian behavior.

Neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) are a group of neurological disorders characterized by the progressive dysfunction of neurons and glial cells, leading to their structural and functional degradation in the central and/or peripheral nervous system. Historically, research on NDs has primarily focused on the brain, brain stem, or spinal cord associated with disease-related symptoms, often overlooking the role of the cerebellum. However, an increasing body of clinical and biological evidence suggests a significant connection between the cerebellum and NDs.

The characteristic neuropathology of Parkinson's disease (PD) involves the abnormal accumulation of phosphorylated α-synuclein (αSyn), as well as a significant decrease in neuromelanin (NM) levels within dopamine neurons (DaNs). Unlike αSyn aggregates, the relationship between NM levels and PD pathogenesis is not well understood. In this study, we engineered an E.
