The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of latanoprost on the secretion of cytokines and chemokines from meibomian gland epithelial cells, and to evaluate the modulation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPAR-γ) and retinoid X receptor α (RXR-α) during latanoprost-induced inflammation. Mouse meibomian gland epithelial cells were cultured in proliferation and differentiation medium, respectively. Cells were exposed to latanoprost, rosiglitazone (PPAR-γ agonist), or LG100268 (RXR-α agonist), respectively.

Background: Anti-VEGF agents has been widely used in ocular diseases, but its safety for treating anterior segment disorders, the conclusions are controversial.
Methods: Several major databases, including CENTRAL, MEDLINE, and EMBASE, were searched. Safety data from 18 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were used to compare anti-VEGF treatment in the ocular anterior segment in pterygium and neovascular glaucoma treatment with placebo/sham treatment for eye diseases.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of collagen cross-linking induced by genipin in porcine sclera.
Methods: Porcine cadaver eyes were treated with genipin at concentrations (by w/v) of 0.01%, 0.

Purpose: The purpose was to determine the interchangeability of ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) and anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) for corneal opacity depth measurement.
Methods: Twenty-six eyes of 26 consecutive patients with corneal opacities were examined by both AS-OCT and UBM. The corneal thickness and the corneal opacity depth were measured and compared.

Aims: To evaluate anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) in the diagnosis and treatment of Descemet's membrane detachment (DMD) with severe corneal edema.
Methods: Nine eyes of 7 consecutive patients with suspected DMD with severe corneal edema due to different causes were imaged with the AS-OCT system. Configuration of Descemet's membrane (DM) was delineated before and after treatment, and quantitative analysis was performed.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the sensitization, pharmacokinetics, and absorption of FK506 after corneal transplantation.
Methods: New Zealand albino rabbits were divided into normal and corneal transplantation groups. Each group was divided into 5 subgroups--saline, blank matrix, high-dose, medium-dose, and low-dose, respectively.

Purpose: To investigate the stability of FK506 eye suspension and its pharmacokinetics in rabbit aqueous humor, as well as its distribution in eye tissues.
Methods: Sedimentation rate, flocculation value, redispersion time, rheological study, and accelerated experiment were determined for evaluating the stability of FK506 suspension. In a single-dose pharmacokinetic study, six rabbits were instilled a 25-microL drop of 0.
