Introduction: Pulmonary embolism (PE) is among the most severe cardiovascular disorders worldwide. Timely and appropriate diagnosis of PE remains an important step in reducing PE related mortality and morbidity.
Methods: In this retrospective single-center cohort study, we comprehensively compared the screening performances of several clinical scoring systems (Wells score [WS], Revised Geneva score [RGS], WS + d-Dimer [D-D], RGS + D-D, WS + PE rule-out criteria [PERC] and RGS + PERC) among PE suspected patients.

Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory metabolic disease with a complex pathogenesis. However, the exact details of its pathogenesis are still unclear, which limits effective clinical treatment of atherosclerosis. Recently, multiple studies have demonstrated that the gut microbiota plays a pivotal role in the onset and progression of atherosclerosis.

Researchers have observed that LHPP plays a crucial role in inhibiting proliferation, growth, migration, invasion, and cell metabolism across various cancers. Nevertheless, the specific functions and underlying mechanisms of LHPP as a tumor suppressor in gastric cancer (GC) require further exploration.

Oxaliplatin is commonly used as the first-line chemotherapeutic agent for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Unfortunately, the acquired resistance, limits the effectiveness of oxaliplatin and the underlying mechanisms remain unknown. Therefore, we explored the role of NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3)/IL-1β in mediating oxaliplatin resistance in HCC.

Background: To explore the effect of scattered or eccentric shaped types of ground glass opacity (GGO) on outcomes of patients with solid-dominant peripheral lung adenocarcinoma.
Methods: We evaluated patients with solid-dominant peripheral lung adenocarcinoma, who underwent radical surgery at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, between January 2013 and December 2015. Morphologically heterogeneous solid-dominant lung adenocarcinoma in imaging findings was based on the last preoperative computed tomography (CT) scans.
Unicentric Castleman disease, particularly the hypervascular variant subtype, commonly presents as a localized lymphadenopathy without systemic symptoms. Surgical excision is often curative for this subtype, leading to a good prognosis. However, some patients with autoimmune complications may require additional systemic therapy along with surgery.

LHQK is a patented Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which is clinically used for acute tracheobronchitis, cough, and other respiratory diseases. Recent studies have proved that LHQK exhibits excellent clinical efficacy in the treatment of acute lung injury (ALI). However, the corresponding mechanisms remain largely unexplored.

RNA modification includes four main types, N6-methyladenosine, N1-methyladenosine, alternative polyadenylation (APA), and adenosine-to-inosine (A-to-I) RNA editing, involving 41 enzymes that serve as "writers", "readers" and "erasers". By collecting RNA modifying enzyme information in 1759 hepatobiliary malignancy (HBM) samples from 11 datasets, an RNA modification HBM Score (RH_score) was established based on unsupervised cluster analysis of RNA modification-associated differentially expressed genes (DEGs). We identified the imbalanced expression of 41 RNA modification enzymes in HBM, which was scientifically categorized into two groups: RH_Score high and RH_Score low.

Qingke Pingchuan granules (QKPCG), a patented traditional Chinese medicine, clinically, are recommended for acute tracheobronchitis, cough, community-acquired pneumonia, and other respiratory diseases. However, its potential protective effect and mechanism of action in acute lung injury (ALI) have not been explored. We aimed to explore the mechanisms underlying the protective role of QKPCG in ALI.

Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a rare disease that involves multiple organs, including the brain; approximately 80%-90% of TSC patients exhibit TSC-associated epilepsy. Independent temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE), TSC-unrelated epilepsy, is particularly rare in patients with TSC. Here, we describe three patients with TSC with independent TLEs that were confirmed by stereo-electroencephalography (EEG), postoperative pathological findings, and seizure outcome at follow-up.

Methods: A total of 94 patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), 73 with liver cirrhosis (LC) and 28 healthy controls were enrolled to determine frequency, cytokine production and chemokine receptor expression of circulating CD161CD4 T cells. Among these, 50 CHB and 34 LC patients were followed up for a period of 52-week entecavir monotherapy to assess the association of CD161CD4 T cells with seroconversion of HBV e antigen (HBeAg).

Background: Most well-differentiated thyroid carcinomas display good therapeutic outcomes, but there are still some patients who are not sensitive to the general treatments lose their treatment opportunities. Thus, it is important to understand the molecular mechanisms that cause thyroid carcinoma, so as to find effective diagnostic and therapeutic targets.
Aim Of The Study: To explore the role of homeobox transcript antisense RNA (HOTAIR) in thyroid carcinoma through protein phosphatase methylesterase 1 (PPME1) by sponging microRNA 761 (miR-761).
Background Integrin αM (CD11b), which is encoded by the Integrin Subunit Alpha M (ITGAM) gene, is not only a surface marker of monocytes but also an essential adhesion molecule. In this study, we investigated the effect of CD11b on experimental abdominal aortic aneurysm and the potential underlying mechanisms. Methods and Results The incidence of abdominal aortic aneurysm was not significantly lower in ITGAM(-/-) mice than in control mice.
