Three-dimensional tissue culture model of human breast cancer for the evaluation of multidrug resistance.

Multidrug resistance (MDR) is one of the major obstacles to improving outcomes of chemotherapy in tumour patients. However, progress has been slow to overcome this phenomenon due to the limitations of current cell/tissue models in recapitulating MDR behaviour of tumour cells in vitro. To address this issue, a more pathologically relevant, three-dimensional (3D) culture of human breast cancer cells was developed by seeding the adriamycin-resistant cells MCF-7R in silk-collagen scaffolds.

Ameliorative effects of aspirin against lipopolysaccharide-induced preeclampsia-like symptoms in rats by inhibiting the pro-inflammatory pathway.

Preeclampsia is an inflammatory disease and has connection with increased pro-inflammatory cytokines. Aspirin reduces the incidence of preeclampsia complications. However, the effects of aspirin on lipopolysaccharide-induced preeclampsia-like symptoms in rats have not been reported and the underlying molecular mechanism has not been illuminated.

Effects of oxycodone on immune function in patients undergoing radical resection of rectal cancer under general anesthesia.

This study aims to explore the effect of oxycodone hydrochloride injection on the immune function of patients who underwent radical resection of rectal cancer under general anesthesia.Eighty patients were enrolled and randomly divided into group A and B (n = 40, each). All patients underwent general intravenous anesthesia.

[Three-D gait patterns before and after total hip arthroplasty].

Objective: To determine how selected gait parameters may change as a result of total hip arthroplasty (THA).

Methods: From February 2006 to February 2007 the study was performed on 53 osteonecrosis of femoral head subjects prior to and 6 weeks, 3, 6 and 12 months after total hip arthroplasty surgery. Gait analysis was performed using the three-dimensional Infrared-based system (Dalian Dong Fang Xin Rui Company, China).
