Background: The effect of embolization of the middle meningeal artery in patients with subacute or chronic subdural hematoma is uncertain.
Methods: We performed a multicenter, open-label, randomized trial in China, involving patients with symptomatic nonacute subdural hematoma with mass effect. Patients were assigned to undergo burr-hole drainage or receive nonsurgical treatment at the surgeon's discretion, and patients in each group were then randomly assigned, in a 1:1 ratio, to undergo middle meningeal artery embolization with liquid embolic material or to receive usual care.

Background: Approximately half of patients who achieve successful reperfusion do not achieve functional independence. The present study sought to investigate the clinical outcomes and safety of intraarterial or intravenous tirofiban as adjunct therapy in patients with acute basilar artery occlusion who had achieved successful recanalization with endovascular treatment.
Methods And Results: In the national, prospective BASILAR (Endovascular Treatment for Acute Basilar Artery Occlusion Study) registry, 458 patients who met inclusion criteria were divided into 3 groups based on tirofiban administration (no tirofiban, n=262; intravenous tirofiban, n=101; intraarterial+intravenous tirofiban, n=95).

In search of effective therapeutics for breast cancers, establishing physiologically relevant in vitro models is of great benefit to facilitate the clinical translation. Despite extensive progresses, it remains to develop the tumor models maximally recapturing the key pathophysiological attributes of their native counterparts. Therefore, the current study aimed to develop a microsphere-enabled modular approach toward the formation of in vitro breast tumor models with the capability of incorporating various selected cells while retaining spatial organization.

Background: HER2-low breast cancer (BC) is proposed to be a special population of patients with an immunohistochemistry (IHC) score of 1 + or 2 + and non-amplified in situ hybridization (ISH) results. The role and prognostic impact of HER2-low BC is still controversial. This meta-analysis aims to explore the prognostic difference between of HER2-low and HER2-zero characteristic in BC patients.

Objective: This study aims to develop and evaluate a predictive nomogram for early assessment risk factors of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) during early pregnancy term, so as to help early clinical management and intervention.
Methods: A total of 824 pregnant women at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University and Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Hubei Province from 1 February 2020 to 30 April 2020 were enrolled in a retrospective observational study and comprised the training dataset. Routine clinical and laboratory information was collected; we applied least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression and multivariate ROC risk analysis to determine significant predictors and establish the nomogram, and the early pregnancy files (gestational weeks 12-16, = 392) at the same hospital were collected as a validation dataset.

Mitochondrial dysfunction refers to cancer immune evasion. A novel 7-gene prognostic signature related to the mitochondrial DNA copy number was utilized to evaluate the immunocyte infiltration in colon cancer according to the risk scores and to predict the survival for colon cancer. We performed an integrated bioinformatic analysis to analyze transcriptome profiling of the EB-treated mitochondrial DNA-defected NCM460 cell line with differentially expressed genes between tumor and normal tissues of COAD in TCGA.

To provide an applicable method to remove mA modification at specific loci, an mA editing system called "targeted RNA demethylation by SunTag system (TRADES)" is engineered. In this system, the targeting element dCas13b is fused to ten copies of GCN4 peptides which can recruit multiple scFv-fusion RNA demethylase to demethylate the target mA site.

The development of a tumor-targeted immunotherapy is highly required. The most advanced application is the use of CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)T (CAR-T) cells to B cell malignancies, but there are still side effects including potential carcinogenicity of lentiviral or retroviral insertion into the host cell genome. Here, we developed a nonviral aptamer-T cell targeted strategy for tumor therapy.

Background: Microelectrode recording (MER) and intraoperative magnetic resonance imaging (iMRI) have been used in deep brain stimulation surgery for Parkinson disease (PD), but comparative methodology is lacking. Therefore, we compared the 1-year follow-up outcomes of MER-guided and iMRI-guided subthalamic nucleus (STN) deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery in PD patients.
Methods: We conducted a review comparing PD patients who underwent MER-guided (n = 76, group A) and iMRI-guided STN DBS surgery (n = 61, group B) in our institution.

Background: Numerous mechanisms for the formation of intimal hyperplasia have been proposed but none have been proven or accepted. Our research focuses on the potential role of hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and platelet-derived growth factors as well as the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), phosphatidylinositide 3-kinase /protein Kinase B (PI3-K/AKT) pathway in hypoxia-mediated intimal hyperplasia processes. We hypothesize that HIF and VEGF will be downregulated with supplemental oxygen in our arteriovenous fistula rabbit model.

Objective: The investigated the effects of Dengzhan Xixin on brain water content, blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability, T2-weighted imaging (T2WI), metabolites and the lesion ratio after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injuries (IRI).
Method: The 65 rats were randomly individed into three groups, the sham-operated group, the ischemia-reperfusion group and the Dengzhan Xixin treatment group. The models of ischemia-reperfusion of middle cerebral artery in rats were established by placing an intraluminal suture.

Objective: To study the expression of NFkappaB p65 and its target genes in intestinal metaplasia (IM), dysplasia (Dys), gastric cancer (GC) infected with Helicobacter pylori (Hp) and explore the mechanism of infection by cytotoxin-associated antigen A expressing Hp (CagA(+)Hp) in the development of gastric cancer.
Methods: CagA antibody in blood sample of 289 patients was determined by ELISA. Hp was detected by rapid urease test and Warthin starry staining.

Objective: To identify the A1166/C polymorphism of angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R) gene in patients with essential hypertension complicated with brain infarction (BI).
Methods: AT1R genotyping with polymerase chain reaction-restrictive fragment length polymorphism was performed in 70 normotensive subjects, 72 hypertensive patients without cardio-cerebrovascular diseases(EH-NCCVD) and 70 hypertensive patients with BI. The relationship between the polymorphism of AT1R gene and plasma lipid levels was also studied.
