Background: Obstructed defecation syndrome (ODS) represents the most prevalent form of chronic constipation, affecting a diverse patient population, leading to numerous complications, and imposing a significant burden on healthcare resources. Most ODS patients have insufficient rectal propulsion, but the exact mechanism underlying the pathogenesis of ODS remains unclear.
Aim: To explore the molecular mechanism underlying the pathogenesis of ODS.

In laparoscopic surgery, a 30° lens is frequently used to obtain a wider field of view. However, it is difficult for inexperienced surgeons to maintain the horizontal state of the image in laparoscopic camera navigation (LCN). If there is a great deviation in the camera's horizontal axis, it may result in ambiguous anatomical recognition, which could impair patient safety.

Microbial infection is a significant health issue for humans. Despite the development of numerous antibiotics, the continuous rise of drug-resistant bacteria highlights the urgent need for new materials to combat these problems. In this study, four water-soluble quaternized cellulose (QC) derivatives with degrees of substitution (DS) ranging from 0.

Background: The non-enzyme autonomous DNA nanodevices have been developed to detect various analytes through the programmability of Watson-Crick base pairing. Nevertheless, by comparison with enzymatic biosensors, the usage of enzyme-free DNA networks to create biosensors for testing low amounts of targets is still subject to the finite number of cycles. Besides, these biosensors still require the incorporation of other amplification strategies to improve the sensitivity, which complicates the detection workflow and lacks of a uniform compatible system to respond to the target in one pot.

The potential of iron-based therapeutic agents in enhancing radiotherapy efficacy through catalyzing the Fenton reaction has garnered widespread interest. The inherent instability of ferrous ions requires the use of complex ligands for the ligand-dependent reduction from Fe to Fe, thereby boosting ferroptosis through inducing the Fenton reaction. However, the reliance on complex redox systems and potential long-term toxicity have seriously limited the clinical application in cancer treatment.

Recent evidence indicates that a high-fat diet (HFD) can promote tumor development, especially colorectal cancer (CRC), by influencing the microbiota. Regulatory circular RNAs (circRNAs) play an important role in modulating host-microbe interactions; however, the specific mechanisms by which circRNAs influence cancer progression by regulating these interactions remain unclear. Here, we report that consumption of a HFD modulates the microbiota by specifically upregulating the expression of the noncoding RNA hsa_circ_0126925 (herein referred to as circ_0126925) in CRC.

Introduction: Previous research has demonstrated that even minor changes in thyroid function are associated with an increased risk of osteoporosis (OP). However, the causal relationship between thyroid disorders and the development of OP remains unclear. To address this, we aim to investigate the connection between genetic predispositions to various thyroid disorders and OP using a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) approach.

Boronate ester can be used to prepare intelligent polymer nanoparticles (NPs). However, the traditional boronate ester polymer NPs made of boronic acid and diols using a "single-lock" strategy (B-O NPs) exhibit low drug loading capacity (DLC) and insufficient lysosomal escape ability, resulting in limited antitumor efficacy. We develop a "two-lock" strategy that combines dodecanamine and boronic acid using boron-nitrogen (B ← N) coordination to enhance the formation of a boronate ester polymer.

Immunotherapy is revolutionizing oncology, but its therapeutic efficiency is still limited by the off-target toxicities and poor antitumor immune responses. By integrating the drug-loaded nanoparticles (DMnSH) with the unique metabolic traits of (Vei), a probiotic-nanomedicine conjugate Vei@DMnSH biohybrid is elaborately designed for enhanced cancer chemo-immunotherapy. Specifically, Vei@DMnSH can accumulate in hypoxic tumor sites and simultaneously consume lactate and cysteine to reverse the lactate-associated immunosuppression and impede the biosynthesis of GSH.

Bioactive peptides and proteins (BAPPs) are promising therapeutic agents for tissue repair with considerable advantages, including multifunctionality, specificity, biocompatibility, and biodegradability. However, the high complexity of tissue microenvironments and their inherent deficiencies such as short half-live and susceptibility to enzymatic degradation, adversely affect their therapeutic efficacy and clinical applications. Investigating the fundamental mechanisms by which BAPPs modulate the microenvironment and developing rational delivery strategies are essential for optimizing their administration in distinct tissue repairs and facilitating clinical translation.

Objective: We previously developed the use of side to side (s-s) bypass for the treatment of adult moyamoya disease (MMD) and discovered several kinds of distinct blood flow models intraoperatively, which we observed through indocyanine green-video angiography (ICG-VA). The purpose of this paper was to investigate the correlation between blood flow model (BFM) identified in s-s bypass and the incidence of postoperative cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome (CHS) among patients with MMD.
Methods: We analyzed 166 hemispheres from 153 patients diagnosed with MMD, including 118 hemispheres with s-s bypass and 48 with end to side (e-s) bypass.

Background: Numerous systematic reviews and meta-analyses have been published that evaluate the association between periodontal disease and systemic diseases, many of which address similar topics. Moreover, their quality requires assessment. Therefore, we performed a cross-sectional analysis to examine the evidence on the relationship between periodontal disease and systemic diseases.

Reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS/RNS) in macrophages have a potent killing effect on pathogens that infect the host. Here, we achieved , quantitative detection of the homeostasis of four primary ROS/RNS (ONOO, HO, NO, and NO) and their precursors (O˙, NO) in phagolysosomes of single RAW 264.7 macrophages after phagocytosis of with platinum-black nanoelectrodes.
