Objective: To explore the role of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSC),an essential element of the bone marrow microenvironment, in multidrug resistance(MDR) of K562 cells, as well as the reversal effect of tetrandrine (TET) on BMSC-mediated MDR and its potential mechanism.

Methods: A mixed co-culture system and a transwell co-culture system for BMSC and K562 cells were established, and the cells were divided into different groups and treated with daunorubicin (DNR) alone or combined with TET and DNR. The CCK-8 assay was used to detect the proliferation of K562 cells in each group, and the cell inhibition rate was calculated.

Platelet Membrane Nanocarriers Cascade Targeting Delivery System to Improve Myocardial Remodeling Post Myocardial Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

April 2024

State Key Laboratory of Digital Medical Engineering, Jiangsu Key Laboratory for Biomaterials and Devices, School of Biological Sciences and Medical Engineering, Southeast University, Nanjing, 210096, P. R. China.

Although treatments for myocardial infarction have advanced significantly, the global mortality due to ischemia and subsequent reperfusion injury remains high. Here, a platelet (PLT) membrane nanocarrier (PL720) that encapsulates L-arginine and FTY720 to facilitate the cascade-targeted delivery of these substances to the myocardial injury site and enable the controlled release of L-arginine and FTY720 is developed. Such an innovative approach shows enhanced cardioprotection through multiple target strategies involved in ischemia-reperfusion injury and late reperfusion inflammation.

Background: Increasing evidence has indicated that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been proven to regulate esophageal cancer progression. The lncRNA protein disulfide isomerase family A member 3 pseudogene 1 (PDIA3P1) has been shown to promote cancer stem cell properties; however, its mechanism of action remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the regulation of esophageal cancer stem cell properties by the interaction of PDIA3P1 with proteins.

Background: Central venous catheters are widely used in clinical practice, and the incidence of central venous catheter occlusion is between 25 % and 38 %. The turbulence caused by the pulsatile flushing technique is harmful to the vascular endothelium and may lead to phlebitis. The low-speed continuous infusion catheter technique is a new type of continuous infusion that ensures that the catheter is always in a keep-vein-open state by continuous low-speed flushing; hence, avoiding the problem of catheter occlusion.

Essential hypertension is a notable threat for the older (age, ≥65 years) population. However, to the best of our knowledge, a real-world study assessing olmesartan medoxomil-amlodipine besylate (OM-AML) tablets in older Chinese patients with essential hypertension has not been performed. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of OM-AML tablets in these patients.

Introduction: Circular RNAs (CircRNA) have emerged as an interest of research in recent years due to its regulatory role in various kinds of cancers of human body. Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the major disease subtype in Asian countries, including China. CircRNAs are formed by back-splicing covalently joined 3'- and 5'- ends rather than canonical splicing and are found to have binding affinity with miRNAs that conjointly contribute to oncogenesis.

Scope: High salinity has been reported to induce many human disorders in tissues and organs to interfere with their normal physiological functions. However, it is unknown how salinity affects the development of female germ cells. This study suggests that a high-salt diet (HSD) may weaken oocyte quality to impair female fertility in mice and investigates the underlying mechanisms.
