Resident cardiac fibroblasts (CFs) play crucial roles in sensing injury signals and regulating inflammatory responses post-myocardial infarction (MI). Damaged mitochondria can be transferred extracellularly via various mechanisms, including extracellular vesicles (EVs). In this study, we aimed to investigate whether CFs could transfer damaged mitochondrial components via small EVs (sEVs) and elucidate their role in regulating inflammatory responses post-MI.

Purpose: To explore the expanding role of artificial intelligence (AI) in managing aortic valve stenosis (AVS) by bibliometric analysis to identify research trends, key contributors, and the impact of AI on enhancing diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for AVS.
Methods: A comprehensive literature review was conducted using the Web of Science database, covering publications from January 1990 to March 2024. Articles were analyzed with bibliometric tools such as CiteSpace and VOSviewer to identify key research trends, core authors, institutions, and research hotspots in AI applications for AVS.

Background: The precise function of DDX59 Antisense RNA 1 (DDX59- AS1) in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) has yet to be fully elucidated.
Objective: This study uses bioinformatics analysis and experimental validation to investigate the association between DDX59-AS1 and LUAD.
Methods: This study uses statistical analysis and database interrogation to investigate the potential association between DDX59-AS1 expression and various clinical characteristics, prognostic factors, regulatory networks, and immune infiltration in LUAD.

Background: Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia frequently leads to severe neurological damage. Although cranial ultrasound (CUS) is crucial for assessing neonatal brain injury, the association between red blood cell distribution width-coefficient of variation (RDW-CV), a marker of red blood cell size variability, and cranial ultrasound abnormalities (CUAs) remains unclear.
Objective: The primary aim of this study was to explore the impact of RDW-CV on CUAs in neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and to elucidate the potential clinical implications of this relationship.

Observational reports have suggested that exposure to perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS) can influence COVID-19 infection-related parameters. This study thus sought to use integrated Mendelian randomization (MR) and network toxicology approaches to clarify the potential causal link between PFOS exposure and COVID-19 severity and the molecular mechanisms underlying this relationship. Inverse-variance-weighted analyses highlighted a causal link between plasma PFOS concentrations and a greater risk of sCOVID-19 (OR 1.

Background: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) has been proven to be a support method and technology for patients with cardiopulmonary failure. However, the transport of patients under ECMO support is challenging given the high-risk technical maneuvers and patient-care concerns involved. Herein, we examined the safety of ECMO during the transport of critically ill patients and its impact on mortality rates, to provide more secure and effective transport strategies in clinical practice.

Introduction: Studies have shown a strong correlation between the cardiometabolic index (CMI) and health issues such as diabetes, atherosclerosis, and decreased renal function. Nevertheless, the correlation between CMI and diabetic kidney disease (DKD) remains ambiguous. The objective of this study is to evaluate the correlation between CMI and DKD in patients with diabetes in the United States.

Silibinin (Sil) is a major bioactive component of silymarin, extracted from the fruit and seeds of Silybum marianum. Silibinin meglumine (SM) is a water-soluble derivative of silibinin that has shown significant potential in liver fibrosis. However, the potential effects and underlying mechanisms of SM on acute liver failure (ALF) are still not fully understood.

Patients with gastric cancer often experience weight loss. A meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the association between weight loss and survival outcomes in gastric cancer patients. We searched PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science according to the PECOS criteria: population (gastric cancer patients), exposure (weight loss), comparator (weight stable), outcomes [overall survival (OS) or recurrence-free survival], and study design (cohort studies).

Background: Thrombocytopenia is a common complication of invasive liver abscess syndrome (ILAS) by () infection, which indicates severe infection and a poor prognosis. However, the presence of leukopenia is rare. There are rare reports on leukopenia and its clinical significance for ILAS, and there is currently no recognized treatment plan.

Background: Current observational data indicates that ischemic stroke (IS) affects a significant proportion of people with COVID-19. The current study sought to evaluate the causal relationship between COVID-19 and IS.
Methods: A two-sample Mendelian randomization (2 S-MR) approach was used to probe the relationship between genetic determinants of three COVID-19 parameters (SARS-CoV-2 infection, COVID-19 hospitalization, and severe COVID-19) and the incidence of IS based on genome-wide association studies (GWAS) data.

In this editorial, we commented on two articles published online in August and September 2024 in the , which focused on modifying the gut microbiota (GM) to prevent or delay the progression of diabetes mellitus (DM) and DM-related complications. Numerous studies, many of which are animal studies, have indicated the potential role of GM in the pathogenesis of DM. However, the detailed causality and mechanisms between GM and DM have not been fully clarified.
