Objective: To assess the therapeutic efficacy of abiraterone combined with prednisone in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) and investigate its effects on miR-221/222 expression.
Methods: A retrospective cohort of 43 CRPC patients from Henan Provincial People's Hospital, People's Hospital of Zhengzhou University was divided into two groups: the treated group (n=22, treated with abiraterone and prednisone) and the control group (n=21, treated with prednisone acetate alone). Expression of miR-221/222 was quantified in CRPC cell lines using quantitative fluorescence polymerase chain reaction.

Brain pharmacokinetic parametric imaging based on dynamic positron emission tomography (PET) scan is valuable in the diagnosis of brain tumor and neurodegenerative diseases. For short-axis PET system, standard blood input function (BIF) of the descending aorta is not acquirable during the dynamic brain scan. BIF extracted from the intracerebral vascular is inaccurate, making the brain parametric imaging task challenging.

Background: The association between LINC01305, a newly discovered long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), and cervical cancer (CC) has been poorly analyzed. In the present study, we revealed high expression of LINC01305 in CC by the cancer genome atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), and dissected the related mechanisms.
Methods: LINC01305, microRNA (miR) -129-5p and SRY-related high-mobility group box 4 (Sox4) mRNA levels were quantitated by quantitative reverse transcription-PCRy qRT-PCR).

In this study, its biocompatibility was evaluated by animal study. New Zealand white rabbits were implanted with degradable intestinal Mg-Zn-Y-Nd alloy stents that were exposed to different treatments.

Emerging evidence suggests that circular RNA (circRNA) plays a fundamental role in tumorigenesis. However, its contribution to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) malignancy remains largely unknown. Here, we performed circRNA microarray expression profile in four paired HCC and normal tissues, and found that circ-ADD3, a novel circRNA derived from linear ADD3 exon 4 to exon 12, was significantly downregulated in HCC, which was further validated in 112 matched HCC and paracancerous tissues.

Since its introduction in 1993,it has been widely used in the treatment of various types of acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain and various types of spinal, joint and soft tissue diseases. In order to better standardize the clinical application and improve the clinical efficacy of Cheezheng Xiaotong Tiegao, the research and development work of the Experts consensus statement on Cheezheng Xiaotong Tiegao in clinical practice was officially launched on October 19,2017,upon approval from China Association of Chinese Medicine.

Emerging evidence suggests that circular RNAs (circRNAs) are linked to the development and progression of human cancers. Nevertheless, their contribution to breast cancer (BC) is still largely unknown. In the current study, we screened and identified a novel circRNA, circ-UBE2D2, which was highly expressed in BC cell lines and tissues and was closely related to aggressive clinical features and dismal prognosis.

Accumulating evidence suggests that microRNAs are important regulators in the pathology of diabetes and its relevant renal injures. Little is known about the role of miR-181a in development of diabetic nephropathy. The aim of our present study was to investigate levels of miR-181a in diabetic nephropathy and explore its underlying mechanism.

Background: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) played important roles in several biological processes through regulating the expression of protein. However, the function of lncRNA BCYRN1 in airway smooth muscle cells (ASMCs) has not been reported.
Methods: Male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were divided into control and asthma groups and the ovalbumin (OVA) model was constructed.

Failure of pancreatic β-cells is closely associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), an intractable disease affecting numerous patients. Pyruvate kinase, muscle isoform 2 (PKM2) is a potential modulator of insulin secretion in β-cells. This study aims at revealing roles and possible mechanisms of PKM2 in pancreatic β-cells.

Background-Critical limb ischemia (CLI) is one of the most severe peripheral artery diseases. Angioplasty and bypass surgery are two major approaches for the treatment of CLI, however, it remains unclear which treatment has better benefit/risk ratio. In this paper, we performed a meta-analysis on the available clinical trials to compare these two approaches in terms of mortality, amputation-free survival, 5-year leg salvage, and freedom from surgical re-intervention.

Objective: To explore the effects of Wnt5a and Wint7a on the differentiation of human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) into endometrium-like cells, and provide a basis for establishing endometrium-like cell models and a cell source for carrying out further endometrium-related experiments.
Methods: The hESCs established by our center were differentiated into endometrium-like cells in 4 different media including Wnt5a (Group A), Wnt7a (Group B), secreted frizzled related protein (sFRP, an inhibitor of Wnt signal pathway, Group C) and medium alone (Group D). In the differentiated terminal cells, the expressions of cytokeratin (CK) and vimentin were detected with immunofluorescence, and the mRNA levels of CK18, epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EPCAM), estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) were determined with RT-PCR.

Background: Microalbuminuria is the earliest clinical sign of diabetic nephropathy (DN). However, earlier markers as a diagnostic tool for DN was required for the invalid of microalbuminuria in some cases. Osteoinductive factor (OIF) was known to be an essential component of the normal vascular matrix.

Polymorphisms in the Xba I and Pvu II restriction enzyme recognition sites in the estrogen receptor-alpha gene (ESR1) have been associated with multiple diseases, including osteoarthritis. To determine whether such polymorphisms are associated with osteoarthritis in a Han Chinese population, 98 women with osteoarthritis and 196 healthy women were genotyped by PCR-RFLP of ESR1 with Xba I and Pvu II. Absence of a restriction polymorphism is indicated as an X or P allele; presence of the restriction polymorphism is indicated as an x or p allele.
