Background: The accuracy of intraoperative rapid frozen pathology is suboptimal, and the assessment of invasiveness in malignant pulmonary nodules significantly influences surgical resection strategies. Predicting the invasiveness of lung adenocarcinoma based on preoperative imaging is a clinical challenge, and there are no established standards for the optimal threshold value using the threshold segmentation method to predict the invasiveness of stage T1 lung adenocarcinoma. This study aimed to explore the efficacy of three-dimensional solid component volume (3D SCV) [calculated by artificial intelligence (AI) threshold segmentation method] in predicting the aggressiveness of T1 lung adenocarcinoma and to determine its optimal threshold and cut-off point.

The occurrence and persistence of tinnitus result from the interaction of multiple neural networks. This study aims to explore the alterations in brain network topology associated with the transition of tinnitus from recent-onset to chronic. Twenty-eight patients with chronic tinnitus, 28 patients with recent-onset tinnitus and 28 sex- and age-matched healthy controls (HC) were enrolled in this study.

Background: Radiomic analysis of quantitative features extracted from segmented medical images can be used for predictive modeling of prognosis in brain tumor patients. Manual segmentation of the tumor components is time-consuming and poses significant reproducibility issues. We compare the prediction of overall survival (OS) in recurrent high-grade glioma(HGG) patients undergoing immunotherapy, using deep learning (DL) classification networks along with radiomic signatures derived from manual and convolutional neural networks (CNN) automated segmentation.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), a malignancy highly prevalent in East and Southeast Asia, is primarily treated with radiotherapy (RT). However, hypoxia-induced radioresistance presents a significant challenge. Nanozymes, nanomaterials with catalase-like activity, have emerged as a promising strategy for radiosensitization by converting elevated hydrogen peroxide in the tumor microenvironment into oxygen.

Purpose: This retrospective cohort study aimed to investigate the association between chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) and the risk of postoperative depression in patients undergoing major surgery.
Methods: Data from Taiwan's National Health Insurance Research Database were analysed for patients aged over 20 years who underwent major surgery between 2004 and 2018. CPSP was defined as the use of prescribed analgesics for over 3 months postsurgery, with a prescription exceeding 90 cumulative defined daily doses.

Macrophages play a crucial role in the immune response during allograft rejection in organ transplantation. Therefore, our study aimed to explore the genomic features of macrophages in mouse heart transplants and use single-cell RNA sequencing to investigate Galectin-9 (Gal-9, Lgals9), a lectin that can mediate the activation and differentiation of immune cells through ligand-receptor interactions, and the effects of its regulation in transplantation. We discovered a new subset of macrophages called "Myoz2+ macrophages", which specifically expressed genes related to myocardial contraction.

Purpose: The transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA) is distinguished by its ability to leave no visible scars on the body's surface. Currently, there is still a lack of single-center large sample size analysis on the learning curve of TOETVA, especially for the treatment of thyroid cancer. This study aims to fill this void by presenting a comprehensive analysis of the learning curve and assessing the procedure's feasibility in managing thyroid cancer.

Background: The effect of targeted temperature management (TTM) combined with decompressive craniectomy (DC) on poor-grade aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) has not been previously addressed in the literature. This study aims to investigate the therapeutic outcomes of the combination of TTM and DC in patients with poor-grade aSAH.
Methods: This study represents a secondary analysis of the Multicenter Clinical Research on Targeted Temperature Management of Poor-grade Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage (High-Quality TTM for PaSAH), a multicenter prospective study conducted in China.

Objective: Impaired right ventricular (RV)-pulmonary arterial (PA) coupling, calculated by measuring the tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) to pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP), can be used as an early indicator of right ventricular dysfunction (RVD) in patients with heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Patients suffering from HFrEF experience improvements in left ventricular (LV) function through the administration of sacubitril/valsartan therapy. In addition, the albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) score was associated with the fluid overload status and adverse clinical outcomes in patients with heart failure.

Background: Advances in treatment have swiftly alleviated systemic inflammation of Takayasu's arteritis (TAK), while subclinical vascular inflammation and the ensuing arterial remodeling continue to present unresolved challenges in TAK. The phenotypic switching of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) is regarded as the first step in vascular pathology and contributes to arterial remodeling. Exosomes facilitate the transfer and exchange of proteins and specific nucleic acids, thereby playing a significant role in intercellular communication.

Background: Cutaneous melanoma (CM) is strongly associated with ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which contributes to the transformation of melanocytes into melanoma by inducing specific DNA damage. Here, we investigated the causal relationship between CM and genes related to sun-damaged skin, exploring specific target genes through various bioinformatics analyses.
Methods: The Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database was used to obtain differential genes for CM and normal skin, and the Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) analysis offered summary-level melanoma data for CM.

The use of pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) has demonstrated effectiveness in the management of femoral head osteonecrosis as well as nonunion fractures; however, the effects of PEMF on preventing glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP) have not been extensively studied. The aim of this investigation was to explore the effectiveness of PEMF stimulation in averting GIOP in rats and uncover the potential fundamental mechanisms involved. A total of seventy-two adult male Wistar rats composed the experimental group and were subsequently assigned to three groups for treatment.
