Objective: Definitive chemoradiotherapy (dCRT) is one of the standard treatments for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), but local recurrence is the main cause of treatment failure. The changes in apoptosis and autophagy in recurrent tumors of patients with ESCC following dCRT have been poorly estimated. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the expressions of key regulators of apoptosis and autophagy in matched paired samples of primary and recurrent ESCC.

Importance: Fluorouracil-based chemotherapy combined with anti-epidermal growth factor receptor/vascular endothelial growth factor therapy is the standard first-line treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer followed by low-intensity maintenance therapy to balance the clinical efficacy and adverse effects (AEs). However, there have been concerns about the AEs of capecitabine plus cetuximab as a maintenance therapy in patients with RAS wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer.
Objective: To evaluate the biological activity and safety of capecitabine plus cetuximab as a novel maintenance therapy for RAS wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer.
Rationale: Ameloblastoma is generally characterized as a benign tumor originating in odontogenic epithelium. However, few cases of metastatic malignant ameloblastoma have also been reported. Due to the low incidence of malignant ameloblastoma, there is no established treatment regimen.

Neoadjuvant therapy improves long-term locoregional control and overall survival after surgical resection for esophageal cancer, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy (nCT) or neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) are commonly used in clinical practice. Nimotuzumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody against epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), the efficacy of nimotuzumab added to nCRT for esophageal cancer is uncertain. We conducted this retrospective study in which combining neoadjuvant treatment of nimotuzumab with chemoradiotherapy (Nimo-nCRT) is compared with nCRT and nCT for patients with potentially resectable locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of consolidation chemotherapy with cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) after concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) with the same agents in patients with stage II-III disease.
Material And Methods: Data for patients with stage II-III squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus treated with CCRT were retroactively reviewed.
Esophageal cancer is the eighth most common cancer worldwide. It is the fourth most common cause of cancer death in China and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is the most prevalent histologic type. Many clinical trials have explored the value of neoadjuvant or adjuvant chemoradiation therapy in potentially resectable ESCC; however, these studies have produced conflicting results.
